1.105.1
चन्द्रमा अप्स्वन्तरा सुपर्णो धावते दिवि |
candramā apsvantarā suparṇo dhāvate divi |
1. WITHIN the waters runs the Moon, he with the beauteous wings in heaven.
1.105.2
न वो हिरण्यनेमयः पदं विन्दन्ति विद्युतो वित्तं मे अस्य रोदसी ||
na vo hiraṇyanemayaḥ padaṃ vindanti vidyuto vittaṃ me asya rodasī ||
Ye lightnings with your golden wheels, men find not your abiding-place. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.3
अर्थमिद वा उ अर्थिन आ जाया युवते पतिम |
arthamid vā u arthina ā jāyā yuvate patim |
2 Surely men crave and gain their wish. Close to her husband clings the wife.
1.105.4
तुञ्जाते वर्ष्ण्यं पयः परिदाय रसं दुहे वित्तम... ||
tuñjāte vṛṣṇyaṃ payaḥ paridāya rasaṃ duhe vittam... ||
And, in embraces intertwined, both give and take the bliss of love. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.5
मो षु देव अदः सवरव पादि दिवस परि |
mo ṣu deva adaḥ svarava pādi divas pari |
3 O never may that light, ye Gods, fall from its station in the sky.
1.105.6
मा सोम्यस्य शम्भुवः शूने भूम कदा चन वित्तम... ||
mā somyasya śambhuvaḥ śūne bhūma kadā cana vittam... ||
Neer fail us one like Soma sweet, the spring of our felicity. Mark this my woe
1.105.7
यज्ञं पर्छाम्यवमं स तद दूतो वि वोचति |
yajñaṃ pṛchāmyavamaṃ sa tad dūto vi vocati |

कव रतं पूर्व्यं गतं कस्तद बिभर्ति नूतनो वि... ||
kva ṛtaṃ pūrvyaṃ ghataṃ kastad bibharti nūtano vi... ||
ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.9
अमी ये देवा सथन तरिष्वा रोचने दिवः |
amī ye devā sthana triṣvā rocane divaḥ |
4 I ask the last of sacrifice. As envoy he shall tell it forth.
1.105.10
कद व रतं कदन्र्तं कव परत्ना व आहुतिर्वि... ||
kad va ṛtaṃ kadanṛtaṃ kva pratnā va āhutirvi... ||
Where is the ancient law divine? Who is its new diffuser now? Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.11
कद व रतस्य धर्णसि कद वरुणस्य चक्षणम |
kad va ṛtasya dharṇasi kad varuṇasya cakṣaṇam |
5 Ye Gods who yonder have your home in the three lucid realms of heaven,
1.105.12
कदर्यम्णो महस पथाति करामेम दूढ्यो वि... ||
kadaryamṇo mahas pathāti krāmema dūḍhyo vi... ||
What count ye truth and what untruth? Where is mine ancient call on you? Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.13
अहम सो अस्मि यः पुरा सुते वदामि कानि चित |
aham so asmi yaḥ purā sute vadāmi kāni cit |
6 What is your firm support of Law? What Varua's observant eye?
1.105.14
तं मा वयन्त्याध्यो वर्को न तर्ष्णजं मर्गं वि... ||
taṃ mā vyantyādhyo vṛko na tṛṣṇajaṃ mṛghaṃ vi... ||
How may we pass the wicked on the path of mighty Aryaman? Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.15
सं मा तपन्त्यभितः सपत्नीरिव पर्शवः |
saṃ mā tapantyabhitaḥ sapatnīriva parśavaḥ |
7 I am the man who sang of old full many a laud when Soma flowed.
1.105.16
मूषो न शिश्ना वयदन्ति माध्य सतोतारं ते शतक्रतो वि... ||
mūṣo na śiśnā vyadanti mādhya stotāraṃ te śatakrato vi... ||
Yet torturing cares consume me as the wolf assails the thirsty deer. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.17
अमी ये सप्त रश्मयस्तत्रा मे नाभिरातता |
amī ye sapta raśmayastatrā me nābhirātatā |
8 Like rival wives on every side enclosing ribs oppress me sore.
1.105.18
तरितस्तद वेदाप्त्यः स जामित्वाय रेभति वि... ||
tritastad vedāptyaḥ sa jāmitvāya rebhati vi... ||
O atakratu, biting cares devour me, singer of thy praise, as rats devour the weaver's threads. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.19
अमी ये पञ्चोक्षणो मध्ये तस्थुर्महो दिवः |
amī ye pañcokṣaṇo madhye tasthurmaho divaḥ |
9 Where those seven rays are shining, thence my home and family extend.
1.105.20
देवत्रा नु परवाच्यं सध्रीचीना नि वाव्र्तुर्वि... ||
devatrā nu pravācyaṃ sadhrīcīnā ni vāvṛturvi... ||
This Tta ptya knoweth well, and speaketh out for brotherhood. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.21
सुपर्णा एत आसते मध्य आरोधने दिवः |
suparṇā eta āsate madhya ārodhane divaḥ |
10 May those five Bulls which stand on high full in the midst of mighty heaven,

ते सेधन्ति पथो वर्कं तरन्तं यह्वतीरपो वि... ||
te sedhanti patho vṛkaṃ tarantaṃ yahvatīrapo vi... ||
Having together swiftly borne my praises to the Gods, return. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.23
नव्यं तदुक्थ्यं हितं देवासः सुप्रवाचनम |
navyaṃ tadukthyaṃ hitaṃ devāsaḥ supravācanam |
11 High in the mid ascent of heaven those Birds of beauteous pinion sit.
1.105.24
रतमर्षन्ति सिन्धवः सत्यं तातान सूर्यो वि... ||
ṛtamarṣanti sindhavaḥ satyaṃ tātāna sūryo vi... ||
Back from his path they drive the wolf as he would cross the restless floods. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.25
अग्ने तव तयदुक्थ्यं देवेष्वस्त्याप्यम |
aghne tava tyadukthyaṃ deveṣvastyāpyam |
12 Firm is this new-wrought hymn of praise, and meet to be told forth, O Gods.
1.105.26
स नः सत्तो मनुष्वदा देवान यक्षि विदुष्टरो वि... ||
sa naḥ satto manuṣvadā devān yakṣi viduṣṭaro vi... ||
The flowing of the floods is Law, Truth is the Sun's extended light. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.27
सत्तो होता मनुष्वदा देवानछा विदुष्टरः |
satto hotā manuṣvadā devānachā viduṣṭaraḥ |
13 Worthy of laud, O Agni, is that kinship which thou hast with Gods.
1.105.28
अग्निर्हव्या सुषूदति देवो देवेषु मेधिरो वि... ||
aghnirhavyā suṣūdati devo deveṣu medhiro vi... ||
Here seat thee like a man: most wise, bring thou the Gods for sacrifice. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.29
बरह्मा कर्णोति वरुणो गातुविदं तमीमहे |
brahmā kṛṇoti varuṇo ghātuvidaṃ tamīmahe |
14 Here seated, man-like as a priest shall wisest Agni to the Gods
1.105.30
वयूर्णोति हर्दा मतिं नव्यो जायतां रतं वि... ||
vyūrṇoti hṛdā matiṃ navyo jāyatāṃ ṛtaṃ vi... ||
Speed onward our oblations, God among the Gods, intelligent. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.31
असौ यः पन्था आदित्यो दिवि परवाच्यं कर्तः |
asau yaḥ panthā ādityo divi pravācyaṃ kṛtaḥ |
15 Varua makes the holy prayer. To him who finds the path we pray.
1.105.32
न स देवा अतिक्रमे तं मर्तासो न पश्यथ वि... ||
na sa devā atikrame taṃ martāso na paśyatha vi... ||
He in the heart reveals his thought. Let sacred worship rise anew. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.33
तरितः कूपे.अवहितो देवान हवत ऊतये |
tritaḥ kūpe.avahito devān havata ūtaye |
16 That pathway of the Sun in heaven, made to be highly glorified,
1.105.34
तच्छुश्राव बर्हस्पतिः कर्ण्वन्नंहूरणादुरु वि... ||
tacchuśrāva bṛhaspatiḥ kṛṇvannaṃhūraṇāduru vi... ||
Is not to be transgressed, O Gods. O mortals, ye behold it not. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.35
अरुणो मा सक्र्द वर्कः पथा यन्तं ददर्श हि |
aruṇo mā sakṛd vṛkaḥ pathā yantaṃ dadarśa hi |
17 Tta, when buried in the well, calls on the Gods to succour him.
1.105.36
उज्जिहीते निचाय्या तष्टेव पर्ष्ट्यामयी वि... ||
ujjihīte nicāyyā taṣṭeva pṛṣṭyāmayī vi... ||
That call of his Bhaspati heard and released him from distress. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
1.105.37
एनाङगूषेण वयमिन्द्रवन्तो.अभि षयाम वर्जने सर्ववीराः |
enāṅghūṣeṇa vayamindravanto.abhi ṣyāma vṛjane sarvavīrāḥ |
18 A ruddy wolf beheld me once, as I was faring on my path.
1.105.38
तन नो ... ||
tan no ... ||
He, like a carpenter whose back is aching crouched and slunk away. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
