1.13.1
सुसमिद्धो न आ वह देवानग्ने हविष्मते |
susamiddho na ā vaha devānaghne haviṣmate |
1 AGNI, well-kindled, bring the Gods for him who offers holy gifts.
1.13.2
होतः पावक यक्षि च ||
hotaḥ pāvaka yakṣi ca ||
Worship them, Purifier, Priest.
1.13.3
मधुमन्तं तनूनपाद यज्ञं देवेषु नः कवे |
madhumantaṃ tanūnapād yajñaṃ deveṣu naḥ kave |
2 Son of Thyself, present, O Sage, our sacrifice to the Gods today.
1.13.4
अद्या कर्णुहि वीतये ||
adyā kṛṇuhi vītaye ||
Sweet to the taste, that they may feast.
1.13.5
नराशंसमिह परियमस्मिन यज्ञ उप हवये |
narāśaṃsamiha priyamasmin yajña upa hvaye |
3 Dear Narāśaṁsa, sweet of tongue, the giver of oblations, I
1.13.6
मधुजिह्वंहविष्क्र्तम ||
madhujihvaṃhaviṣkṛtam ||
Invoke to this our sacrifice.
1.13.7
अग्ने सुखतमे रथे देवानीळित आ वह |
aghne sukhatame rathe devānīḷita ā vaha |
4 Agni, on thy most easy car, glorified, hither bring the Gods:
1.13.8
असि होता मनुर्हितः ||
asi hotā manurhitaḥ ||
Manu appointed thee as Priest.
1.13.9
सत्र्णीत बर्हिरानुषग घर्तप्र्ष्ठं मनीषिणः |
stṛṇīta barhirānuṣagh ghṛtapṛṣṭhaṃ manīṣiṇaḥ |
5 Strew, O ye wise, the sacred grass that drips with oil, in order due,
1.13.10
यत्राम्र्तस्य चक्षणम ||
yatrāmṛtasya cakṣaṇam ||
Where the Immortal is beheld.
1.13.11
वि शरयन्तां रताव्र्धो दवारो देवीरसश्चतः |
vi śrayantāṃ ṛtāvṛdho dvāro devīrasaścataḥ |
6 Thrown open be the Doors Divine, unfailing, that assist the rite,
1.13.12
अद्या नूनं च यष्टवे ||
adyā nūnaṃ ca yaṣṭave ||
For sacrifice this day and now.
1.13.13
नक्तोषासा सुपेशसास्मिन यज्ञ उप हवये |
naktoṣāsā supeśasāsmin yajña upa hvaye |
7 I call the lovely Night and Dawn to seat them on the holy grass
1.13.14
इदं नो बर्हिरासदे ||
idaṃ no barhirāsade ||
At this our solemn sacrifice.
1.13.15
ता सुजिह्वा उप हवये होतारा दैव्या कवी |
tā sujihvā upa hvaye hotārā daivyā kavī |
8 The two Invokers I invite, the wise, divine and sweet of tongue,
1.13.16
यज्ञं नो यक्षतामिमम ||
yajñaṃ no yakṣatāmimam ||
To celebrate this our sacrifice.
1.13.17
इळा सरस्वती मही तिस्रो देवीर्मयोभुवः |
iḷā sarasvatī mahī tisro devīrmayobhuvaḥ |
9 Iḷā, Sarasvatī, Mahī, three Goddesses who bring delight,
1.13.18
बर्हिः सीदन्त्वस्रिधः ||
barhiḥ sīdantvasridhaḥ ||
Be seated, peaceful, on the grass.
1.13.19
इह तवष्टारमग्रियं विश्वरूपमुप हवये |
iha tvaṣṭāramaghriyaṃ viśvarūpamupa hvaye |
10 Tvaṣṭar I call, the earliest born, the wearer of all forms at will:
1.13.20
अस्माकमस्तुकेवलः ||
asmākamastukevalaḥ ||
May he be ours and ours alone.
1.13.21
अव सर्जा वनस्पते देव देवेभ्यो हविः |
ava sṛjā vanaspate deva devebhyo haviḥ |
11 God, Sovran of the Wood, present this our oblation to the Gods,
1.13.22
पर दातुरस्तु चेतनम ||
pra dāturastu cetanam ||
And let the giver be renowned.
1.13.23
सवाहा यज्ञं कर्णोतनेन्द्राय यज्वनो गर्हे |
svāhā yajñaṃ kṛṇotanendrāya yajvano ghṛhe |
12 With Svāhā pay the sacrifice to Indra in the offerer's house:
1.13.24
तत्र देवानुप हवये ||
tatra devānupa hvaye ||
Thither I call the Deities.
