मत्स्यपायि ते महः पात्रस्येव हरिवो मत्सरो मदः |
matsyapāyi te mahaḥ pātrasyeva harivo matsaro madaḥ |
1. GLAD thee: thy glory hath been quaffed, Lord of Bay Steeds, as ’twere the bowl's enlivening mead.
1.175.2
वर्षा ते वर्ष्ण इन्दुर्वाजी सहस्रसातमः ||
vṛṣā te vṛṣṇa indurvājī sahasrasātamaḥ ||
For thee the Strong there is strong drink, mighty, omnipotent to win.
1.175.3
आ नस्ते गन्तु मत्सरो वर्षा मदो वरेण्यः |
ā naste ghantu matsaro vṛṣā mado vareṇyaḥ |
2 Let our strong drink, most excellent, exhilarating, come to thee,
1.175.4
सहावानिन्द्रसानसिः पर्तनाषाळ अमर्त्यः ||
sahāvānindrasānasiḥ pṛtanāṣāḷ amartyaḥ ||
Victorious, Indra! bringing gain, immortal conquering in fight,

तवं हि शूरः सनिता चोदयो मनुषो रथम |
tvaṃ hi śūraḥ sanitā codayo manuṣo ratham |
3 Thou, Hero, winner of the spoil, urgest to speed the car of man.
1.175.6
सहावान दस्युमव्रतमोषः पात्रं न शोचिषा ||
sahāvān dasyumavratamoṣaḥ pātraṃ na śociṣā ||
Burn, like a vessel with the flame, the lawless Dasyu, Conqueror!
1.175.7
मुषाय सुर्यं कवे चक्रमीशान ओजसा |
muṣāya suryaṃ kave cakramīśāna ojasā |
4 Empowered by thine own might, O Sage, thou stolest Sūrya's chariot wheel.
1.175.8
वह शुष्णायवधं कुत्सं वातस्याश्वैः ||
vaha śuṣṇāyavadhaṃ kutsaṃ vātasyāśvaiḥ ||
Thou barest Kutsa with the steeds of Wind to Śuṣṇa as his death.
1.175.9
शुष्मिन्तमो हि ते मदो दयुम्निन्तम उत करतुः |
śuṣmintamo hi te mado dyumnintama uta kratuḥ |
5 Most mighty is thy rapturous joy, most splendid is thine active power,
1.175.10
वर्त्रघ्ना वरिवोविदा मंसीष्ठा अश्वसातमः ||
vṛtraghnā varivovidā maṃsīṣṭhā aśvasātamaḥ ||
Wherewith, foe-slaying, sending bliss, thou art supreme in gaining steeds.
1.175.11
यथा पुर्वेभ्यो जरित्र्भ्य इन्द्र मय इवापो न तर्ष्यते बभूथ |
yathā purvebhyo jaritṛbhya indra maya ivāpo na tṛṣyate babhūtha |
6 As thou, O Indra, to the ancient singers wast ever joy, as water to the thirsty,
1.175.12
तामनु तवा निविदं जोहवीमि वि... ||
tāmanu tvā nividaṃ johavīmi vi... ||
So unto thee I sing this invocation. May we find strengthening food in full abundance.
