1.63.1
तवं महानिन्द्र यो ह शुष्मैर्द्यावा जज्ञानः पर्थिवीमे धाः |
tvaṃ mahānindra yo ha śuṣmairdyāvā jajñānaḥ pṛthivīame dhāḥ |
1. THOU art the Mighty One; when born, O Indra, with power thou terrifiedst earth and heaven;
1.63.2
यद ध ते विश्वा गिरयश्चिदभ्वा भिया दर्ळ्हासः किरणा नैजन ||
yad dha te viśvā ghirayaścidabhvā bhiyā dṛḷhāsaḥ kiraṇā naijan ||
When, in their fear of thee, all firm-set mountains and monstrous creatures shook like dust before thee.
1.63.3
आ यद धरी इन्द्र विव्रता वेरा ते वज्रं जरिता बाह्वोर्धात |
ā yad dharī indra vivratā verā te vajraṃ jaritā bāhvordhāt |
2 When thy two wandering Bays thou drawest hither, thy praiser laid within thine arms the thunder,
1.63.4
येनाविहर्यतक्रतो अमित्रान पुर इष्णासि पुरुहूत पूर्वीः ||
yenāviharyatakrato amitrān pura iṣṇāsi puruhūta pūrvīḥ ||
Wherewith, O Much-invoked, in will resistless, thou smitest foemen down and many a castle.
1.63.5
तवं सत्य इन्द्र धर्ष्णुरेतान तवं रभुक्षा नर्यस्त्वंषाट |
tvaṃ satya indra dhṛṣṇuretān tvaṃ ṛbhukṣā naryastvaṃṣāṭ |
3 Faithful art thou, these thou defiest, Indra; thou art the Ṛbhus' Lord, heroic, victor.
1.63.6
तवं शुष्णं वर्जने पर्क्ष आणौ यूने कुत्सायद्युमते सचाहन ||
tvaṃ śuṣṇaṃ vṛjane pṛkṣa āṇau yūne kutsāyadyumate sacāhan ||
Thou, by his side, for young and glorious Kutsa, with steed and car in battle slewest Śuṣṇa,
1.63.7
तवं ह तयदिन्द्र चोदीः सखा वर्त्रं यद वज्रिन वर्षकर्मन्नुभ्नाः |
tvaṃ ha tyadindra codīḥ sakhā vṛtraṃ yad vajrin vṛṣakarmannubhnāḥ |
4 That, as a friend, thou furtheredst, O Indra, when, Thunderer, strong in act, thou crushedst Vṛtra;
1.63.8
यद ध शूर वर्षमणः पराचैर्वि दस्यून्र्योनावक्र्तो वर्थाषाट ||
yad dha śūra vṛṣamaṇaḥ parācairvi dasyūnryonāvakṛto vṛthāṣāṭ ||
When, Hero, thou, great-souled, with easy conquest didst rend the Dasyus in their

तवं ह तयदिन्द्रारिषण्यन दर्ळ्हस्य चिन मर्तानामजुष्टौ |
tvaṃ ha tyadindrāriṣaṇyan dṛḷhasya cin martānāmajuṣṭau |
distant dwelling.
1.63.10
वयस्मदा काष्ठा अर्वते वर्घनेव वज्रिञ्छ्नथिह्यमित्रान ||
vyasmadā kāṣṭhā arvate varghaneva vajriñchnathihyamitrān ||
5 This doest thou, and art not harmed, O Indra, e’en in the anger of the strongest mortal.
1.63.11
तवां ह तयदिन्द्रार्णसातौ सवर्मीळ्हे नर आजा हवन्ते |
tvāṃ ha tyadindrārṇasātau svarmīḷhe nara ājā havante |
Lay thou the race-course open for our horses: as with a club, slay, Thunder-armed! our foemen.
1.63.12
तव सवधाव इयमा समर्य ऊतिर्वाजेष्वतसाय्या भूत ||
tava svadhāva iyamā samarya ūtirvājeṣvatasāyyā bhūt ||
6 Hence men invoke thee, Indra, in the tumult of battle, in the light-bestowing conflict.
1.63.13
तवं ह तयदिन्द्र सप्त युध्यन पुरो वज्रिन पुरुकुत्साय दर्दः |
tvaṃ ha tyadindra sapta yudhyan puro vajrin purukutsāya dardaḥ |
This aid of thine, O Godlike One, was ever to be implored in deeds of might in combat.
1.63.14
बर्हिर्न यत सुदासे वर्था वर्गंहो राजन वरिवः पूरवे कः ||
barhirna yat sudāse vṛthā varghaṃho rājan varivaḥ pūrave kaḥ ||
7 Warring for Purukutsa thou, O Indra, Thunder-armed! breakest down the seven castles;
1.63.15
तवं तयां न इन्द्र देव चित्रामिषमापो न पीपयः परिज्मन |
tvaṃ tyāṃ na indra deva citrāmiṣamāpo na pīpayaḥ parijman |
Easily, for Sudās, like grass didst rend them, and out of need, King, broughtest gain to Pūru.
1.63.16
यया शूर परत्यस्मभ्यं यंसि तमनमूर्जं न विश्वध कषरध्यै ||
yayā śūra pratyasmabhyaṃ yaṃsi tmanamūrjaṃ na viśvadha kṣaradhyai ||
8 O Indra, God who movest round about us, feed us with varied food plenteous as water—
1.63.17
अकारि त इन्द्र गोतमेभिर्ब्रह्माण्योक्ता नमसा हरिभ्याम |
akāri ta indra ghotamebhirbrahmāṇyoktā namasā haribhyām |
Food wherewithal, O Hero, thou bestowest vigour itself to flow to us for ever.
1.63.18
सुपेशसं वाजमा भरा नः परातर मक्षू धियावसुर जगम्यात ||
supeśasaṃ vājamā bharā naḥ prātar makṣū dhiyāvasur jaghamyāt ||
9 Prayers have been made by Gotamas, O Indra, addressed to thee, with laud for thy Bay Horses.
