1.94.1
इमं सतोममर्हते जातवेदसे रथमिव सं महेमा मनीषया |
imaṃ stomamarhate jātavedase rathamiva saṃ mahemā manīṣayā |
1 FOR Jtavedas worthy of our praise will we frame with our mind this eulogy as twere a car.
1.94.2
भद्रा हि नः परमतिरस्य संसद्यग्ने सख्ये मा रिषामा वयं तव ||
bhadrā hi naḥ pramatirasya saṃsadyaghne sakhye mā riṣāmā vayaṃ tava ||
For good, in his assembly, is this care of ours. Let us not, in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.3
यस्मै तवमायजसे स साधत्यनर्वा कषेति दधते सुवीर्यम |
yasmai tvamāyajase sa sādhatyanarvā kṣeti dadhate suvīryam |
2 The man for whom thou sacrificest prospereth, dwelleth without a foe, gaineth heroic might.
1.94.4
स तूताव नैनमश्नोत्यंहतिरग्ने ... ||
sa tūtāva nainamaśnotyaṃhatiraghne ... ||
He waxeth strong, distress never approacheth him. Let us not, in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.5
शकेम तवा समिधं साधया धियस्त्वे देवा हविरदन्त्याहुतम |
śakema tvā samidhaṃ sādhayā dhiyastve devā haviradantyāhutam |
3 May we have power to kindle thee. Fulfil our thoughts. In thee the Gods eat the presented offering,
1.94.6
तवमादित्याना वह तान हयुश्मस्यग्ने ... ||
tvamādityānā vaha tān hyuśmasyaghne ... ||
Bring hither the dityas, for we long for them. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.7
भरामेध्मं कर्णवामा हवींषि ते चितयन्तः पर्वणा-पर्वणा वयम |
bharāmedhmaṃ kṛṇavāmā havīṃṣi te citayantaḥ parvaṇā-parvaṇā vayam |
4 We will bring fuel and prepare burnt offerings, reminding thee at each successive festival.
1.94.8
जीवातवे परतरं साधया धियो.अग्ने ... ||
jīvātave prataraṃ sādhayā dhiyo.aghne ... ||
Fulfil our thought that so we may prolong our lives. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.9
विशां गोपा अस्य चरन्ति जन्तवो दविपच्च यदुत चतुष्पदक्तुभिः |
viśāṃ ghopā asya caranti jantavo dvipacca yaduta catuṣpadaktubhiḥ |
5 His ministers move forth, the guardians of the folk, protecting quadruped and biped with their rays.

चित्रः परकेत उषसो महानस्य अग्ने ... ||
citraḥ praketa uṣaso mahānasya aghne ... ||
Mighty art thou, the wondrous herald of the Dawn. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.11
तवमध्वर्युरुत होतासि पूर्व्यः परशास्ता पोता जनुषा पुरोहितः |
tvamadhvaryuruta hotāsi pūrvyaḥ praśāstā potā januṣā purohitaḥ |
6 Thou art Presenter and the chief Invoker, thou Director, Purifier, great High Priest by birth.
1.94.12
विश्वा विद्वानार्त्विज्या धीर पुष्यस्यग्ने .. . ||
viśvā vidvānārtvijyā dhīra puṣyasyaghne .. . ||
Knowing all priestly work thou perfectest it, Sage. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.13
यो विश्वतः सुप्रतीकः सद्रंं असि दूरे चित सन तळिदिवाति रोचसे |
yo viśvataḥ supratīkaḥ sadṛṃṃ asi dūre cit san taḷidivāti rocase |
7 Lovely of form art thou, alike on every side; though far, thou shinest brightly as if close at hand.
1.94.14
रात्र्याश्चिदन्धो अति देव पश्यस्यग्ने ... ||
rātryāścidandho ati deva paśyasyaghne ... ||
O God, thou seest through even the dark of night. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.15
पूर्वो देवा भवतु सुन्वतो रथो.अस्माकं शंसो अभ्यस्तु दूढ्यः |
pūrvo devā bhavatu sunvato ratho.asmākaṃ śaṃso abhyastu dūḍhyaḥ |
8 Gods, foremost be his car who pours libations out, and let our hymn prevail oer evil-hearted men.
1.94.16
तदा जानीतोत पुष्यता वचो.अग्ने ... ||
tadā jānītota puṣyatā vaco.aghne ... ||
Attend to this our speech and make it prosper well. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.17
वधैर्दुःशंसानप दूढ्यो जहि दूरे वा ये अन्ति वा के चिदत्रिणः |
vadhairduḥśaṃsānapa dūḍhyo jahi dūre vā ye anti vā ke cidatriṇaḥ |
9 Smite with thy weapons those of evil speech and thought, devouring demons, whether near or tar away.
1.94.18
अथा यज्ञाय गर्णते सुगं कर्ध्यग्ने ... ||
athā yajñāya ghṛṇate sughaṃ kṛdhyaghne ... ||
Then to the singer give free way for sacrifice. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.19
यदयुक्था अरुषा रोहिता रथे वातजूता वर्षभस्येव तेरवः |
yadayukthā aruṣā rohitā rathe vātajūtā vṛṣabhasyeva teravaḥ |
10 When to thy chariot thou hadst yoked two red steeds and two ruddy steeds, wind-sped, thy roar was like a bull's.
1.94.20
आदिन्वसि वनिनो धूमकेतुनाग्ने ... ||
ādinvasi vanino dhūmaketunāghne ... ||
Thou with smoke-bannered flame attackest forest trees. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.21
अध सवनादुत बिभ्युः पतत्रिणो दरप्सा यत ते यवसादो वयस्थिरन |
adha svanāduta bibhyuḥ patatriṇo drapsā yat te yavasādo vyasthiran |
11 Then at thy roar the very birds are terrified, when, eating-up the grass, thy sparks fly forth abroad.
1.94.22
सुगं तत ते तावकेभ्यो रथेभ्यो.अग्ने ... ||
sughaṃ tat te tāvakebhyo rathebhyo.aghne ... ||
Then is it easy for thee and thy car to pass. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.23
अयं मित्रस्य वरुणस्य धायसे.अवयातां मरुतां हेळो अद्भुतः |
ayaṃ mitrasya varuṇasya dhāyase.avayātāṃ marutāṃ heḷo adbhutaḥ |
12 He hath the Power to soothe Mitra and Varua: wonderful is the Maruts wrath when they descend.
1.94.24
मर्ळा सु नो भूत्वेषां मनः पुनरग्ने ... ||
mṛḷā su no bhūtveṣāṃ manaḥ punaraghne ... ||
Be gracious; let their hearts he turned to us again. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.25
देवो देवानामसि मित्रो अद्भुतो वसुर्वसूनामसि चारुरध्वरे |
devo devānāmasi mitro adbhuto vasurvasūnāmasi cāruradhvare |
13 Thou art a God, thou art the wondrous Friend of Gods, the Vasu of the Vasus, fair in sacrifice.
1.94.26
शर्मन सयाम तव सप्रथस्तमे.अग्ने ... ||
śarman syāma tava saprathastame.aghne ... ||
Under, thine own most wide protection may we dwell. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.27
तत ते भद्रं यत समिद्धः सवे दमे सोमाहुतो जरसे मर्ळयत्तमः |
tat te bhadraṃ yat samiddhaḥ sve dame somāhuto jarase mṛḷayattamaḥ |
14 This is thy grace that, kindled in thine own abode, invoked with Soma thou soundest forth most benign,

दधासि रत्नं दरविणं च दाशुषे.अग्ने ... ||
dadhāsi ratnaṃ draviṇaṃ ca dāśuṣe.aghne ... ||
Thou givest wealth and treasure to the worshipper. Let us not in thy friendship, Agni, suffer harm.
1.94.29
यस्मै तवं सुद्रविणो ददाशो.अनागास्त्वमदिते सर्वताता |
yasmai tvaṃ sudraviṇo dadāśo.anāghāstvamadite sarvatātā |
15 To whom thou, Lord of goodly riches, grantest freedom from every sin with perfect wholeness,
1.94.30
यं भद्रेण शवसा चोदयासि परजावता राधसा ते सयाम ||
yaṃ bhadreṇa śavasā codayāsi prajāvatā rādhasā te syāma ||
Whom with good strength thou

स तवमग्ने सौभगत्वस्य विद्वानस्माकमायुः पर तिरेहदेव |
sa tvamaghne saubhaghatvasya vidvānasmākamāyuḥ pra tirehadeva |

तन नो मित्रो वरुणो मामहन्तामदितिः सिन्धुः पर्थिवी उत दयौः ||
tan no mitro varuṇo māmahantāmaditiḥ sindhuḥ pṛthivī uta dyauḥ ||
