10.105.1
कदा वसो सतोत्रं हर्यत आव शमशा रुधद वाः |
kadā vaso stotraṃ haryata āva śmaśā rudhad vāḥ |
1. WHEN, Vasu, wilt thou love the laud? Now let the channel bring the stream.
10.105.2
दीर्घं सुतं वाताप्याय ||
dīrghaṃ sutaṃ vātāpyāya ||
The juice is ready to ferment.
10.105.3
हरी यस्य सुयुजा विव्रता वेरर्वन्तानु शेपा |
harī yasya suyujā vivratā verarvantānu śepā |
2 He whose two Bay Steeds harnessed well, swerving, pursue the Bird's tail-plumes,
10.105.4
उभारजी न केशिना पतिर्दन ||
ubhārajī na keśinā patirdan ||
With Rowing manes, like heaven and earth, he is the Lord with power to give.
10.105.5
अप योरिन्द्रः पापज आ मर्तो न शश्रमाणो बिभीवान |
apa yorindraḥ pāpaja ā marto na śaśramāṇo bibhīvān |
3 Bereft of skill is Indra, if, like some outwearied man he fears
10.105.6
शुभे यद युयुजे तविषीवान ||
śubhe yad yuyuje taviṣīvān ||
The sinner, when the Mighty hath prepared himself for victory.
10.105.7
सचायोरिन्द्रश्चर्क्र्ष आनुपानसः सपर्यन |
sacāyorindraścarkṛṣa ānupānasaḥ saparyan |
4 Indra with these drives round, until he meets with one to worship him:
10.105.8
नदयोर्विव्रतयोः शूर इन्द्रः ||
nadayorvivratayoḥ śūra indraḥ ||
Indra is Master of the pair who snort and swerve upon their way.
10.105.9
अधि यस्तस्थौ केशवन्ता वयचस्वन्ता न पुष्ट्यै |
adhi yastasthau keśavantā vyacasvantā na puṣṭyai |
5 Borne onward by the long-maned Steeds who stretch themselves as ’twere for food,
10.105.10
वनोति शिप्राभ्यां शिप्रिणीवान ||
vanoti śiprābhyāṃ śipriṇīvān ||
The God who wears the helm defends them with his jaws.
10.105.11
परास्तौद रष्वौजा रष्वेभिस्ततक्ष शूरः शवसा |
prāstaud ṛṣvaujā ṛṣvebhistatakṣa śūraḥ śavasā |
6 The Mighty sang with Lofty Ones: the Hero fashioned with his strength,
10.105.12
रभुर्न करतुभिर्मातरिश्वा ||
ṛbhurna kratubhirmātariśvā ||
Like skilful Mātariśvan with his power and might,
10.105.13
वज्रं यश्चक्रे सुहनाय दस्यवे हिरीमशो हिरीमान |
vajraṃ yaścakre suhanāya dasyave hirīmaśo hirīmān |
7 The bolt, which pierced at once the vitals of the Dasyu easy to be slain,
10.105.14
अरुतहनुरद्भुतं न रजः ||
arutahanuradbhutaṃ na rajaḥ ||
With jaw uninjured like the wondrous firmament.
10.105.15
अव नो वर्जिना शिशीह्य रचा वनेमान्र्चः |
ava no vṛjinā śiśīhy ṛcā vanemānṛcaḥ |
8 Grind off our sins: with song will we conquer the men who sing no hymns:
10.105.16
नाब्रह्मा यज्ञर्धग जोषति तवे ||
nābrahmā yajñaṛdhagh joṣati tve ||
Not easily art thou pleased with prayerless sacrifice.
10.105.17
ऊर्ध्वा यत ते तरेतिनी भूद यज्ञस्य धूर्षु सद्मन |
ūrdhvā yat te tretinī bhūd yajñasya dhūrṣu sadman |
9 When threefold flame burns high for thee, to rest on poles of sacrifice,
10.105.18
सजूर्नावं सवयशसं सचायोः ||
sajūrnāvaṃ svayaśasaṃ sacāyoḥ ||
Thou with the living joyest in the self-bright Ship.
10.105.19
शरिये ते पर्श्निरुपसेचनी भूच्छ्रिये दर्विररेपाः |
śriye te pṛśnirupasecanī bhūcchriye darvirarepāḥ |
10 Thy glory was the speckled cup, thy glory was the flawless scoop.
10.105.20
यया सवे पात्रे सिञ्चस उत ||
yayā sve pātre siñcasa ut ||
Wherewith thou pourest into thy receptacle.
10.105.21
शतं वा यदसुर्य परति तवा सुमित्र इत्थास्तौद दुर्मित्रैत्थास्तौ |
śataṃ vā yadasurya prati tvā sumitra itthāstaud durmitraitthāstau |
11 As hundreds, O Immortal God, have sung to thee, so hath Sumitra, yea, Durmitra praised thee here,
10.105.22
आवो यद दस्युहत्ये कुत्सपुत्रं परावो यद्दस्युहत्ये कुत्सवत्सम ||
āvo yad dasyuhatye kutsaputraṃ prāvo yaddasyuhatye kutsavatsam ||
What time thou holpest Kutsa's son, when Dasyus fell, yea, holpest Kutsa's darling when the Dasyus died.
