10.110.1
समिद्धो अद्य मनुषो दुरोणे देवो देवान यजसि जातवेदः |
samiddho adya manuṣo duroṇe devo devān yajasi jātavedaḥ |
1. THOU in the house of man this day enkindled worshippest Gods as God, O Jātavedas.
10.110.2
आ च वह मित्रमहश्चिकित्वान तवं दूतः कविरसिप्रचेताः ||
ā ca vaha mitramahaścikitvān tvaṃ dūtaḥ kavirasipracetāḥ ||
Observant, bright as Mitra, bring them hither: thou art a sapient and foreknowing envoy.
10.110.3
तनूनपात पथ रतस्य यानान मध्वा समञ्जन सवदयासुजिह्व |
tanūnapāt patha ṛtasya yānān madhvā samañjan svadayāsujihva |
2 Tanūnapāt, fair-tongued, with sweet meath balming the paths and waysof Order, make them pleasant.
10.110.4
मन्मानि धीभिरुत यज्ञं रन्धन देवत्रा चक्र्णुह्यध्वरं नः ||
manmāni dhībhiruta yajñaṃ ṛndhan devatrā cakṛṇuhyadhvaraṃ naḥ ||
Convey our sacrifice to heaven, exalting with holy thoughts ourhymns of praise and worship.
10.110.5
आजुह्वान ईड्यो वन्द्यश्चा याह्यग्ने वसुभिः सजोषाः |
ājuhvāna īḍyo vandyaścā yāhyaghne vasubhiḥ sajoṣāḥ |
3 Invoked, deserving prayer and adoration, O Agni, come accordant with the Vasus.
10.110.6
तवं देवानामसि यह्व होता स एनान यक्षीषितो यजीयान ||
tvaṃ devānāmasi yahva hotā sa enān yakṣīṣito yajīyān ||
Thou art, O Youthful Lord, the Gods’ Invoker, so, best of Sacrificers, bring them quickly.
10.110.7
पराचीनं बर्हिः परदिशा पर्थिव्या वस्तोरस्या वर्ज्यतेग्रे अह्नाम |
prācīnaṃ barhiḥ pradiśā pṛthivyā vastorasyā vṛjyateaghre ahnām |
4 By rule the Sacred Grass is scattered eastward, a robe to clothe this earth when dawns are breaking.
10.110.8
वयु परथते वितरं वरीयो देवेभ्यो अदितयेस्योनम ||
vyu prathate vitaraṃ varīyo devebhyo aditayesyonam ||
Widely it spreads around and far-extended, fair for the Gods and bringing peace and freedom.
10.110.9
वयचस्वतीरुर्विया वि शरयन्तां पतिभ्यो न जनयःशुम्भमानाः |
vyacasvatīrurviyā vi śrayantāṃ patibhyo na janayaḥśumbhamānāḥ |
5 Let the expansive Doors be widely opened, like wives who deck their beauty for their husbands.
10.110.10
देवीर्द्वारो बर्हतीर्विश्वमिन्वा देवेभ्योभवत सुप्रायणाः ||
devīrdvāro bṛhatīrviśvaminvā devebhyobhavata suprāyaṇāḥ ||
Lofty, celestial, all-impelling Portals, admit the Gods and give them easy entrance.
10.110.11
आ सुष्वयन्ती यजते उपाके उषासानक्ता सदतां नियोनौ |
ā suṣvayantī yajate upāke uṣāsānaktā sadatāṃ niyonau |
6 Pouring sweet dews let holy Night and Morning, each close to each, he seated at their station,
10.110.12
दिव्ये योषणे बर्हती सुरुक्मे अधि शरियंशुक्रपिशं दधाने ||
divye yoṣaṇe bṛhatī surukme adhi śriyaṃśukrapiśaṃ dadhāne ||
Lofty, celestial Dames with gold to deck them. assuming all their fair and radiant beauty.
10.110.13
दैव्या होतारा परथमा सुवाचा मिमाना यज्ञं मनुषोयजध्यै |
daivyā hotārā prathamā suvācā mimānā yajñaṃ manuṣoyajadhyai |
7 Come the two first celestial sweet-voiced Hotars, arranging sacrifice for man to worship
10.110.14
परचोदयन्ता विदथेषु कारू पराचीनं जयोतिःप्रदिशा दिशन्ता ||
pracodayantā vidatheṣu kārū prācīnaṃ jyotiḥpradiśā diśantā ||
As singers who inspire us in assemblies, showing the eastward light with their direction.
10.110.15
आ नो यज्ञं भारती तूयमेत्विळा मनुष्वदिहचेतयन्ती |
ā no yajñaṃ bhāratī tūyametviḷā manuṣvadihacetayantī |
8 Let Bhāratī come quickly to our worship, and Iḷā showing like a human being.
10.110.16
तिस्रो देवीर्बर्हिरेदं सयोनं सरस्वतीस्वपसः सदन्तु ||
tisro devīrbarhiredaṃ syonaṃ sarasvatīsvapasaḥ sadantu ||
So let Sarasvatī and both her fellows, deft Goddesses, on this fair grass be seated.
10.110.17
य इमे दयावाप्र्थिवी जनित्री रूपैरपिंशद भुवनानिविश्वा |
ya ime dyāvāpṛthivī janitrī rūpairapiṃśad bhuvanāniviśvā |
9 Hotar more skilled in sacrifice, bring hither with speed to-day God Tvaṣṭar, thou who knowest.
10.110.18
तमद्य होतरिषितो यजीयान देवं तवष्टारमिह यक्षि विद्वान ||
tamadya hotariṣito yajīyān devaṃ tvaṣṭāramiha yakṣi vidvān ||
Even him who formed these two, the Earth and Heaven the Parents, with their forms, and every creature.
10.110.19
उपावस्र्ज तमन्या समञ्जन देवानां पाथ रतुथाहवींषि |
upāvasṛja tmanyā samañjan devānāṃ pātha ṛtuthāhavīṃṣi |
10 Send to our offerings which thyself thou balmest the Companies of Gods in ordered season.
10.110.20
वनस्पतिः शमिता देवो अग्निः सवदन्तु हव्यम्मधुना घर्तेन ||
vanaspatiḥ śamitā devo aghniḥ svadantu havyammadhunā ghṛtena ||
Agni, Vanaspati the Immolator sweeten our offered gift with meath and butter.
10.110.21
सद्यो जातो वयमिमीत यज्ञमग्निर्देवानामभवत्पुरोगाः |
sadyo jāto vyamimīta yajñamaghnirdevānāmabhavatpuroghāḥ |
11 Agni, as soon as he was born, made ready the sacrifice, and was the Gods’ preceder.
10.110.22
अस्य होतुः परदिश्य रतस्य वाचि सवाहाक्र्तंहविरदन्तु देवाः ||
asya hotuḥ pradiśy ṛtasya vāci svāhākṛtaṃhaviradantu devāḥ ||
May the Gods cat our offering consecrated according to this true Priest's voice and guidance.
