10.138.1
तव तय इन्द्र सख्येषु वह्नय रतं मन्वाना वयदर्दिरुर्वलम |
tava tya indra sakhyeṣu vahnaya ṛtaṃ manvānā vyadardirurvalam |
1. ALLIED with thee in friendship, Indra, these, thy priests, remembering Holy Law, rent Vṛtra limb from limb,
10.138.2
यत्रा दशस्यन्नुषसो रिणन्नपः कुत्सायमन्मन्नह्यश्च दंसयः ||
yatrā daśasyannuṣaso riṇannapaḥ kutsāyamanmannahyaśca daṃsayaḥ ||
When they bestowed the Dawns and let the waters flow, and when thou didst chastise dragons at Kutsa's call.
10.138.3
अवास्र्जः परस्वः शवञ्चयो गिरिनुदाज उस्रा अपिबोमधु परियम |
avāsṛjaḥ prasvaḥ śvañcayo ghirinudāja usrā apibomadhu priyam |
2 Thou sentest forth productive powers, clavest the hills, thou dravest forth the kine, thou drankest pleasant meath.
10.138.4
अवर्धयो वनिनो अस्य दंससा शुशोचसूर्य रतजातया गिरा ||
avardhayo vanino asya daṃsasā śuśocasūrya ṛtajātayā ghirā ||
Thou gavest increase through this Tree's surpassing might. The Sun shone by the hymn that sprang from Holy Law.
10.138.5
वि सूर्यो मध्ये अमुचद रथं दिवो विदद दासय परतिमानमार्यः |
vi sūryo madhye amucad rathaṃ divo vidad dāsaya pratimānamāryaḥ |
3 In the mid-way of heaven the Sun unyoked his car: the Ārya found a match to meet his Dam foe.
10.138.6
दर्ळानि पिप्रोरसुरस्य मायिन इन्द्रो वयास्यच्चक्र्वान रजिश्वना ||
dṛḷāni piprorasurasya māyina indro vyāsyaccakṛvān ṛjiśvanā ||
Associate with Ṛjiśvan Indra overthrew the solid forts of Pipru, conjuring Asura.
10.138.7
अनाध्र्ष्टानि धर्षितो वयास्यन निधीन्रदेवानम्र्णदयास्यः |
anādhṛṣṭāni dhṛṣito vyāsyan nidhīnradevānamṛṇadayāsyaḥ |
4 He boldly cast down forts which none had e’er assailed: unwearied he destroycd the godless treasure-stores.
10.138.8
मासेव सूर्यो वसु पुर्यमा ददे गर्णानःशत्रून्रश्र्णाद विरुक्मता ||
māseva sūryo vasu puryamā dade ghṛṇānaḥśatrūnraśṛṇād virukmatā ||
Like Sun and Moon he took the stronghold's wealth away, and, praised in song, demolished foes with flashing dart.
10.138.9
अयुद्धसेनो विभ्वा विभिन्दता दाशद वर्त्रहा तुज्यानि तेजते |
ayuddhaseno vibhvā vibhindatā dāśad vṛtrahā tujyāni tejate |
5 Armed with resistless weapons, with vast power to cleave, the Vṛtra-slayer whets his darts and deals fordi wounds.
10.138.10
इन्द्रस्य वज्रादबिभेदभिश्नथः पराक्रामच्छुन्ध्युरजहदुष अनः ||
indrasya vajrādabibhedabhiśnathaḥ prākrāmacchundhyurajahaduṣa anaḥ ||
Bright Uṣas was afraid of Indra's slaughtering bolt: she went upon her way and left her chariot there.
10.138.11
एता तया ते शरुत्यानि केवला यदेक एकमक्र्णोरयज्ञम |
etā tyā te śrutyāni kevalā yadeka ekamakṛṇorayajñam |
6 These are thy famous exploits, only thine, when thou alone hast left the other reft of sacrifice.
10.138.12
मासां विधानमदधा अधि दयवि तवया विभिन्नम्भरति परधिं पिता ||
māsāṃ vidhānamadadhā adhi dyavi tvayā vibhinnambharati pradhiṃ pitā ||
Thou in the heavens hast set the ordering of the Moons: the Father bears the felly portioned out by thee.
