10.49.1
अहं दां गर्णते पूर्व्यं वस्वहं बरह्म कर्णवं मह्यंवर्धनम |
ahaṃ dāṃ ghṛṇate pūrvyaṃ vasvahaṃ brahma kṛṇavaṃ mahyaṃvardhanam |
1. I HAVE enriched the singer with surpassing wealth; I have allowed the holy hymn to strengthen me.
10.49.2
अहं भुवं यजमानस्य चोदितायज्वनः साक्षिविश्वस्मिन भरे ||
ahaṃ bhuvaṃ yajamānasya coditāyajvanaḥ sākṣiviśvasmin bhare ||
I, furtherer of him who offers sacrifice, have conquered in each fight the men who worship not.
10.49.3
मां धुरिन्द्रं नाम देवता दिवश्च गमश्चापां चजन्तवः |
māṃ dhurindraṃ nāma devatā divaśca ghmaścāpāṃ cajantavaḥ |
2 The People of the heavens, the waters, and the earth have stablished me among the Gods with Indra's name.
10.49.4
अहं हरी वर्षणा विव्रता रघू अहंवज्रं शवसे धर्ष्ण्वा ददे ||
ahaṃ harī vṛṣaṇā vivratā raghū ahaṃvajraṃ śavase dhṛṣṇvā dade ||
I took unto myself the two swift vigorous Bays that speed on divers paths, and the fierce bolt for strength.
10.49.5
अहमत्कं कवये शिश्नथं हथैरहं कुत्समावमाभिरूतिभिः |
ahamatkaṃ kavaye śiśnathaṃ hathairahaṃ kutsamāvamābhirūtibhiḥ |
3 With deadly blows I smote Atka for Kavi's sake; I guarded Kutsa well with these saving helps.
10.49.6
अहं शुष्णस्य शनथिता वधर्यमंन यो रर आर्यं नाम दस्यवे ||
ahaṃ śuṣṇasya śnathitā vadharyamaṃna yo rara āryaṃ nāma dasyave ||
As Śuṣṇa's slayer I brandished the dart of death: I gave not up the Āryan name to Dasyu foes.
10.49.7
अहं पितेव वेतसून्रभिष्टये तुग्रं कुत्साय समदिभंच रन्धयम |
ahaṃ piteva vetasūnrabhiṣṭaye tughraṃ kutsāya smadibhaṃca randhayam |
4 Smadibha, Tugra, and the Vetasus I gave as prey to Kutsa, father-like, to succour him.
10.49.8
अहं भुवं यजमानस्य राजनि पर यद भरेतुजये न परियाध्र्षे ||
ahaṃ bhuvaṃ yajamānasya rājani pra yad bharetujaye na priyādhṛṣe ||
I was a worthy King to rule the worshipper, when I gave Tuji dear inviolable gifts.
10.49.9
अहं रन्धयं मर्गयं शरुतर्वणे यन माजिहीत वयुनाचनानुषक |
ahaṃ randhayaṃ mṛghayaṃ śrutarvaṇe yan mājihīta vayunācanānuṣak |
5 I gave up Mṛgaya to Srutarvan as his prey because he ever followed me and kept my laws.
10.49.10
अहं वेशं नम्रमायवे.अकरमहंसव्याय पड्ग्र्भिमरन्धयम ||
ahaṃ veśaṃ namramāyave.akaramahaṃsavyāya paḍghṛbhimarandhayam ||
For Āyu's sake I caused Veta to bend and bow, and into Savya's hand delivered Padgrbhi.
10.49.11
अहं स यो नववास्त्वं बर्हद्रथं सं वर्त्रेव दासंव्र्त्रहारुजम |
ahaṃ sa yo navavāstvaṃ bṛhadrathaṃ saṃ vṛtreva dāsaṃvṛtrahārujam |
6 1, I crushed Navavāstva of the lofty car, the Dāsa, as the Vṛtra-slayer kills the fiends;
10.49.12
यद वर्धयन्तं परथयन्तमानुषग दूरेपारे रजसो रोचनाकरम ||
yad vardhayantaṃ prathayantamānuṣagh dūrepāre rajaso rocanākaram ||
When straightway on the region's farthest edge I brought the God who makes the lights to broaden and increase.
10.49.13
अहं सूर्यस्य परि याम्याशुभिः परैतशेभिर्वहमानोजसा |
ahaṃ sūryasya pari yāmyāśubhiḥ praitaśebhirvahamānaojasā |
7 I travel round about borne onward in my might by the fleet-footed dappled Horses of the Sun.
10.49.14
यन मा सावो मनुष आह निर्णिज रधक कर्षेदासं कर्त्व्यं हथैः ||
yan mā sāvo manuṣa āha nirṇija ṛdhak kṛṣedāsaṃ kṛtvyaṃ hathaiḥ ||
When man's libation calls me to the robe of state I soon repel the powerful Dasyu with my blows.
10.49.15
अहं सप्तहा नहुषो नहुष्टरः पराश्राव यं शवसातुर्वशं यदुम |
ahaṃ saptahā nahuṣo nahuṣṭaraḥ prāśrāva yaṃ śavasāturvaśaṃ yadum |
8 Stronger am I than Nabus, I who slew the seven: I glorified with might Yadu and Turvaga.
10.49.16
अहं नयन्यं सहसा सहस करं नवव्राधतो नवतिं च वक्षयम ||
ahaṃ nyanyaṃ sahasā sahas karaṃ navavrādhato navatiṃ ca vakṣayam ||
I brought another low, with strength I bent his strength: I let the mighty nine-and-ninety wax in power.
10.49.17
अहं सप्त सरवतो धारयं वर्षा दरवित्न्वः पर्थिव्यांसीरा अधि |
ahaṃ sapta sravato dhārayaṃ vṛṣā dravitnvaḥ pṛthivyāṃsīrā adhi |
9 Bull over all the streams that flow along the earth, I took the Seven Rivers as mine own domain.
10.49.18
अहमर्णांसि वि तिरामि सुक्रतुर्युधा विदम्मनवे गातुमिष्टये ||
ahamarṇāṃsi vi tirāmi sukraturyudhā vidammanave ghātumiṣṭaye ||
I, gifted with great wisdom, spread the floods abroad: by war I found for man the way to high success.
10.49.19
अहं तदासु धारयं यदासु न देवश्चनत्वष्टाधारयद रुशत |
ahaṃ tadāsu dhārayaṃ yadāsu na devaścanatvaṣṭādhārayad ruśat |
10 I set within these cows the white milk which no God, not even Tvaṣṭar's self, had there deposited,—
10.49.20
सपार्हं गवामूधस्सुवक्षणास्वा मधोर्मधु शवात्र्यं सोममाशिरम ||
spārhaṃ ghavāmūdhassuvakṣaṇāsvā madhormadhu śvātryaṃ somamāśiram ||
Much-longed-for, in the breasts, the udders of the kine, the savoury sweets of meath, the milk and Soma juice.
10.49.21
एवा देवानिन्द्रो विव्ये नॄन पर चयौत्नेन मघवासत्यराधाः |
evā devānindro vivye nṝn pra cyautnena maghavāsatyarādhāḥ |
11 Even thus hath Indra Maghavan, truly bounteous, sped Gods and men with mighty operation.
10.49.22
विश्वेत ता ते हरिवः शचीवो.अभितुरासः सवयशो गर्णन्ति ||
viśvet tā te harivaḥ śacīvo.abhiturāsaḥ svayaśo ghṛṇanti ||
The pious glorify all these thine exploits, Lord of Bay Coursers, Strong, and Selfresplendent.
