10.53.1
यमैछाम मनसा सो.अयमागाद यज्ञस्य विद्वान्परुषश्चिकित्वान |
yamaichāma manasā so.ayamāghād yajñasya vidvānparuṣaścikitvān |
1. HE hath arrived, he whom we sought with longing, who skilled in sacrifice well knows its courses.
10.53.2
स नो यक्षद देवताता यजीयान नि हिषत्सदन्तरः पूर्वो अस्मत ||
sa no yakṣad devatātā yajīyān ni hiṣatsadantaraḥ pūrvo asmat ||
Let him discharge his sacrificial duties: let him sit down as Friend who was before
10.53.3
अराधि होता निषदा यजीयनभि परयांसि सुधितानि हिख्यत |
arādhi hotā niṣadā yajīyanabhi prayāṃsi sudhitāni hikhyat |

यजामहै यज्ञियान हन्त देवानीळामहाीड्यानाज्येन ||
yajāmahai yajñiyān hanta devānīḷāmahāīḍyānājyena ||
2 Best Priest, he hath been won by being seated, for he hath looked on the well-ordered viands.
10.53.5
साध्वीमकर्देववीतिं नो अद्य यज्ञस्य जिह्वामविदामगुह्याम |
sādhvīmakardevavītiṃ no adya yajñasya jihvāmavidāmaghuhyām |
Come, let usworship Gods who must be worshipped, and pouring oil, laud those who should be lauded.
10.53.6
स आयुरागात सुरभिर्वसानो भद्रामकर्देवहूतिं नो अद्य ||
sa āyurāghāt surabhirvasāno bhadrāmakardevahūtiṃ no adya ||
3 Now hath he made the feast of Gods effective: now have we found the secret tongue of worship.
10.53.7
तदद्य वाचः परथमं मसीय येनासुरानभि देवासाम |
tadadya vācaḥ prathamaṃ masīya yenāsurānabhi devāasāma |
Now hath he come, sweet, robed in vital vigour, and made our calling on the Gods effective.
10.53.8
ऊर्जाद उत यज्ञियसः पञ्च जना मम होत्रंजुषध्वम ||
ūrjāda uta yajñiyasaḥ pañca janā mama hotraṃjuṣadhvam ||
4 This prelude of my speech I now will utter, whereby we Gods may quell our Asura foemen.
10.53.9
पञ्च जना मम होत्रं जुषन्तां गोजाता उत येयज्ञियासः |
pañca janā mama hotraṃ juṣantāṃ ghojātā uta yeyajñiyāsaḥ |
Eaters of strengthening food who merit worship, O ye Five Tribes, be pleased with mine oblation.
10.53.10
पर्थिवी नः पार्थिवात पात्वंअसोऽनतरिक्षं दिव्यात पात्वस्मान ||
pṛthivī naḥ pārthivāt pātvaṃaso'ntarikṣaṃ divyāt pātvasmān ||
5 May the Five Tribes be pleased with mine oblation, and the Cow's Sons and all who merit worship.
10.53.11
तन्तुं तन्वन रजसो भानुमन्विहि जयोतिष्मतः पथोरक्ष धिया कर्तान |
tantuṃ tanvan rajaso bhānumanvihi jyotiṣmataḥ pathorakṣa dhiyā kṛtān |
From earthly trouble may the earth protect us, and air's mid realm from woe that comes from heaven.
10.53.12
अनुल्बणं वयत जोगुवामपो मनुर्भव जनया दैव्यं जनम ||
anulbaṇaṃ vayata joghuvāmapo manurbhava janayā daivyaṃ janam ||
6 Spinning the thread, follow the region's splendid light: guard thou the path ways well which wisdom hath prepared.
10.53.13
अक्षानहो नह्यतनोत सोम्या इष्क्र्णुध्वं रशना ओतपिंशत |
akṣānaho nahyatanota somyā iṣkṛṇudhvaṃ raśanā otapiṃśata |
Weave ye the knotless labour of the bards who sing: be Manu thou, and bring the Heavenly People forth.
10.53.14
अष्टावन्धुरं वहताभितो रथं येन देवासोनयन्नभि परियम ||
aṣṭāvandhuraṃ vahatābhito rathaṃ yena devāsoanayannabhi priyam ||
7 Lovers of Soma, bind the chariot traces fast: set ye the reins in order and embellish them.
10.53.15
अश्मन्वती रीयते सं रभध्वमुत तिष्ठत पर तरतासखायः |
aśmanvatī rīyate saṃ rabhadhvamut tiṣṭhata pra taratāsakhāyaḥ |
Bring hitherward the car with seats where eight may sit, whereon the Gods have brought the treasure that we love.
10.53.16
अत्रा जहाम ये असन्नशेवाः शिवान वयमुत्तरेमाभि वाजान ||
atrā jahāma ye asannaśevāḥ śivān vayamuttaremābhi vājān ||
8 Here flows Asmanvati: hold fast each other, keep yourselves up, and pass, my friends, the river.
10.53.17
तवष्टा माया वेदपसामपस्तमो बिभ्रत पात्रादेवपानानि शन्तमा |
tvaṣṭā māyā vedapasāmapastamo bibhrat pātrādevapānāni śantamā |
There let us leave the Powers that brought no profit, and cross the flood to Powers that are auspicious.
10.53.18
शिशीते नूनं परशुं सवायसंयेन वर्श्चादेतशो बरह्मणस पतिः ||
śiśīte nūnaṃ paraśuṃ svāyasaṃyena vṛścādetaśo brahmaṇas patiḥ ||
9 Tvaṣṭar, most deft of workmen, knew each magic art, bringing most blessed bowls that hold the drink of Gods.
10.53.19
सतो नूनं कवयः सं शिशीत वाशीभिर्याभिरम्र्ताय तक्षथ |
sato nūnaṃ kavayaḥ saṃ śiśīta vāśībhiryābhiramṛtāya takṣatha |
His axe, wrought of good metal, he is sharpening now, wherewith the radiant Brahmaṇaspati will cut.
10.53.20
विद्वांसः पदा गुह्यानि कर्तन येनदेवासो अम्र्तत्वमानशुः ||
vidvāṃsaḥ padā ghuhyāni kartana yenadevāso amṛtatvamānaśuḥ ||
10 Now, O ye Sapient Ones, make ye the axes sharp wherewith ye fashion bowls to hold the Amṛta.
10.53.21
गर्भे योषामदधुर्वत्समासन्यपीच्येन मनसोतजिह्वया |
gharbhe yoṣāmadadhurvatsamāsanyapīcyena manasotajihvayā |
Knowing the secret places make ye ready that whereby the Gods have gotten immortality.
10.53.22
स विश्वाहा सुमना योग्या अभि सिषासनिर्वनतेकार इज्जितिम ||
sa viśvāhā sumanā yoghyā abhi siṣāsanirvanatekāra ijjitim ||
11 Ye with a secret tongue and dark intention laid the maiden deep within, the calf within the mouth.
