10.60.1
आ जनं तवेषसन्द्र्शं माहीनानामुपस्तुतम |
ā janaṃ tveṣasandṛśaṃ māhīnānāmupastutam |
1. BRINGING our homage we have come to one magnificent in look.
10.60.2
अगन्मबिभ्रतो नमः ||
aghanmabibhrato namaḥ ||
Glorified of the mighty Gods
10.60.3
असमातिं नितोशनं तवेषं निययिनं रथम |
asamātiṃ nitośanaṃ tveṣaṃ niyayinaṃ ratham |
2 To Asamati, spring of gifts, lord of the brave, a radiant car,

भजेरथस्य सत्पतिम ||
bhajerathasya satpatim ||
The conqueror of Bhajeratha
10.60.5
यो जनान महिषानिवातितस्थौ पवीरवान |
yo janān mahiṣānivātitasthau pavīravān |
3 Who, when the spear hath armed his hand, or even weaponless o’erthrows
10.60.6
उतापवीरवान्युधा ||
utāpavīravānyudhā ||
Men strong as buffaloes in fight;
10.60.7
यस्येक्ष्वाकुरुप वरते रेवान मराय्येधते |
yasyekṣvākurupa vrate revān marāyyedhate |
4 Him in whose service flourishes Iksvaku, rich and dazzling-bright.
10.60.8
दिवीवपञ्च कर्ष्टयः ||
divīvapañca kṛṣṭayaḥ ||
As the Five Tribes that are in heaven.
10.60.9
इन्द्र कषत्रासमातिषु रथप्रोष्ठेषु धारय |
indra kṣatrāsamātiṣu rathaproṣṭheṣu dhāraya |
5 Indra, support the princely power of Rathaprosthas matched by none,
10.60.10
दिवीवसूर्यं दर्शे ||
divīvasūryaṃ dṛśe ||
Even as the Sun for all to see.
10.60.11
अगस्त्यस्य नद्भ्यः सप्ती युनक्षि रोहिता |
aghastyasya nadbhyaḥ saptī yunakṣi rohitā |
6 Thou for Agastya's sister's sons yokest thy pair of ruddy steeds.
10.60.12
पणीन नयक्रमीरभि विश्वान राजन्नराधसः ||
paṇīn nyakramīrabhi viśvān rājannarādhasaḥ ||
Thou troddest niggards under foot, all those, O King, who brought no gifts.
10.60.13
अयं मातायं पितायं जीवातुरागमत |
ayaṃ mātāyaṃ pitāyaṃ jīvāturāghamat |
7 This is the mother, this the sire, this one hath come to be thy life.
10.60.14
इदं तवप्रसर्पणं सुबन्धवेहि निरिहि ||
idaṃ tavaprasarpaṇaṃ subandhavehi nirihi ||
What brings thee forth is even this. Now come, Subandhu, get thee forth.
10.60.15
यथा युगं वरत्रया नह्यन्ति धरुणाय कम |
yathā yughaṃ varatrayā nahyanti dharuṇāya kam |
8 As with the leather thong they bind the chariot yoke to hold it fast,
10.60.16
एवादाधार ते मनो जीवातवे न मर्त्यवे.अथो अरिष्टतातये ||
evādādhāra te mano jīvātave na mṛtyave.atho ariṣṭatātaye ||
So have I held thy spirit fast, held it for life and not for death, held it for thy security.
10.60.17
यथेयं पर्थिवी मही दाधारेमान वनस्पतीन |
yatheyaṃ pṛthivī mahī dādhāremān vanaspatīn |
9 Even as this earth, the mighty earth, holds fast the monarchs of the wood.
10.60.18
एवादाधार ते मनो जीवातवे न मर्त्यवे.अथो अरिष्टतातये ||
evādādhāra te mano jīvātave na mṛtyave.atho ariṣṭatātaye ||
So have I held thy spirit fast, held it for life and not for death, held it for thy security.
10.60.19
यमादहं वैवस्वतात सुबन्धोर्मन आभरम |
yamādahaṃ vaivasvatāt subandhormana ābharam |
10 Subandlin's spirit I have brought from Yarna, from Vivasvān's Son,
10.60.20
जीवातवेन मर्त्यवे.अथो अरिष्टतातये ||
jīvātavena mṛtyave.atho ariṣṭatātaye ||
Brought it for life and not for death, yea, brought it for security.
10.60.21
नयग वातो.अव वाति नयक तपति सूर्यः |
nyagh vāto.ava vāti nyak tapati sūryaḥ |
11 The wind blows downward from on high, downward the Sun-God sends his heat,
10.60.22
नीचीनमघ्न्यादुहे नयग भवतु ते रपः ||
nīcīnamaghnyāduhe nyagh bhavatu te rapaḥ ||
Downward the milch-cow pours her milk: so downward go thy pain and grief.
10.60.23
अयं मे हस्तो भगवानयं मे भगवत्तरः |
ayaṃ me hasto bhaghavānayaṃ me bhaghavattaraḥ |
12 Felicitous is this mine hand, yet more felicitous is this.
10.60.24
अयं मेविश्वभेषजो.अयं शिवाभिमर्शनः ||
ayaṃ meviśvabheṣajo.ayaṃ śivābhimarśanaḥ ||
This hand contains all healing balms, and this makes whole with gentle touch.
