10.70.1
इमां मे अग्ने समिधं जुषस्वेळस पदे परति हर्याघ्र्ताचीम |
imāṃ me aghne samidhaṃ juṣasveḷas pade prati haryāghṛtācīm |
1. ENJOY, O Agni, this my Fuel, welcome the oil-filled ladle where we pour libation.
10.70.2
वर्ष्मन पर्थिव्याः सुदिनत्वे अह्नामूर्ध्वोभव सुक्रतो देवयज्या ||
varṣman pṛthivyāḥ sudinatve ahnāmūrdhvobhava sukrato devayajyā ||
Rise up for worship of the Gods, wise Agni, on the earth's height, while days are bright with beauty.
10.70.3
आ देवानामग्रयावेह यातु नराशंसो विश्वरूपेभिरश्वैः |
ā devānāmaghrayāveha yātu narāśaṃso viśvarūpebhiraśvaiḥ |
2 May he who goes before the Gods come hither with steeds whose shapes are varied, Narasarhsa.
10.70.4
रतस्य पथा नमसा मियेधो देवेभ्यो देवतमःसुषूदत ||
ṛtasya pathā namasā miyedho devebhyo devatamaḥsuṣūdat ||
May he, most Godlike, speed our offered viands with homage God-ward on the path of Order.
10.70.5
शश्वत्तममीळते दूत्याय हविष्मन्तो मनुष्यासो अग्निम |
śaśvattamamīḷate dūtyāya haviṣmanto manuṣyāso aghnim |
3 Men with oblations laud most constant Agni, and pray him to perform an envoy's duty.
10.70.6
वहिष्ठैरश्वैः सुव्र्ता रथेना देवान वक्षि निषदेह होता ||
vahiṣṭhairaśvaiḥ suvṛtā rathenā devān vakṣi niṣadeha hotā ||
With lightly-rolling car and best draught-horses, bring the Gods hither and sit down as Hotar.
10.70.7
वि परथतां देवजुष्टं तिरश्चा दीर्घं दराघ्मासुरभि भूत्वस्मे |
vi prathatāṃ devajuṣṭaṃ tiraścā dīrghaṃ drāghmāsurabhi bhūtvasme |
4 May the delight of Gods spread out transversely: may it be with us long in length and fragrant.
10.70.8
अहेळता मनसा देव बर्हिरिन्द्रज्येष्ठानुशतो यक्षि देवान ||
aheḷatā manasā deva barhirindrajyeṣṭhānuśato yakṣi devān ||
O Holy Grass divine, with friendly spirit bring thou the willing Gods whose Chief is Indra.
10.70.9
दिवो वा सानु सप्र्शता वरीयः पर्थिव्या वा मात्रया विश्रयध्वम |
divo vā sānu spṛśatā varīyaḥ pṛthivyā vā mātrayā viśrayadhvam |
5 Touch ye the far-extending height of heaven or spring apart to suit the wide earth's measure.
10.70.10
उशतीर्द्वारो महिना महद्भिर्देवं रथंरथयुर्धारयध्वम ||
uśatīrdvāro mahinā mahadbhirdevaṃ rathaṃrathayurdhārayadhvam ||
Yearning, ye Doors, with those sublime in greatness, seize eagerly the heavenly Car that cometh.
10.70.11
देवी दिवो दुहितरा सुशिल्पे उषासानक्ता सदतां नियोनौ |
devī divo duhitarā suśilpe uṣāsānaktā sadatāṃ niyonau |
6 Here in this shrine may Dawn and Night, the Daughters of Heaven, the skilful Goddesses, be seated.
10.70.12
आ वां देवास उशती उशन्त उरौ सीदन्तु सुभगेुपस्थे ||
ā vāṃ devāsa uśatī uśanta urau sīdantu subhagheupasthe ||
In your wide lap, auspicious, willing Ladies may the Gods seat them with a willing spirit.
10.70.13
ऊर्ध्वो गरावा बर्हदग्निः समिद्धः परिया धामान्यदितेरुपस्थे |
ūrdhvo ghrāvā bṛhadaghniḥ samiddhaḥ priyā dhāmānyaditerupasthe |
7 Up stands the stone, high burns the fire enkindled: Aditi's lap contains the Friendly Natures
10.70.14
पुरोहिताव रत्विजा यज्ञे अस्मिन विदुष्टराद्रविणमा यजेथाम ||
purohitāv ṛtvijā yajñe asmin viduṣṭarādraviṇamā yajethām ||
Ye Two Chief Priests who serve at this our worship, may ye, more skilled, win for us rich possessions.
10.70.15
तिस्रो देवीर्बर्हिरिदं वरीय आ सीदत चक्र्मा वःस्योनम |
tisro devīrbarhiridaṃ varīya ā sīdata cakṛmā vaḥsyonam |
8 On our wide grass, Three Goddesses be seated: for you have we prepared and made it pleasant.
10.70.16
मनुष्वद यज्ञं सुधिता हवींषीळा देवीघ्र्तपदी जुषन्त ||
manuṣvad yajñaṃ sudhitā havīṃṣīḷā devīghṛtapadī juṣanta ||
May Iḷā, she whose foot drops oil, the Goddess, taste, man-like, sacrifice and well-set presents.
10.70.17
देव तवष्टर्यद ध चारुत्वमानड यदङगिरसामभवः सचाभूः |
deva tvaṣṭaryad dha cārutvamānaḍ yadaṅghirasāmabhavaḥ sacābhūḥ |
9 Since thou, God Tvaṣṭar, hast made beauty perfect, since hou hast been the Aṅgirases' Companion,
10.70.18
स देवानां पाथ उप पर विद्वानुशन यक्षि दरविणोदः सुरत्नः ||
sa devānāṃ pātha upa pra vidvānuśan yakṣi draviṇodaḥ suratnaḥ ||
Willing, most wealthy, Giver of possessions, grant us the Gods’ assembly, thou who knowest.
10.70.19
वनस्पते रशनया नियूया देवानां पाथ उप वक्षिविद्वान |
vanaspate raśanayā niyūyā devānāṃ pātha upa vakṣividvān |
10 Well-knowing, binding with thy cord, bring hither, Lord of the Wood, the Deities' assembly.
10.70.20
सवदाति देवः कर्णवद धवींष्यवतान्द्यावाप्र्थिवी हवं मे ||
svadāti devaḥ kṛṇavad dhavīṃṣyavatāndyāvāpṛthivī havaṃ me ||
The God prepare and season our oblations may Heaven and Earth be gracious to my calling.
10.70.21
आग्ने वह वरुणमिष्टये न इन्द्रं दिवो मरुतोन्तरिक्षात |
āghne vaha varuṇamiṣṭaye na indraṃ divo marutoantarikṣāt |
11 Agni, bring hither Varuṇa to help us, Indra from heaven, from air's mid-realm the Maruts.
10.70.22
सीदन्तु बर्हिर्विश्व आ यजत्राः सवाहादेवा अम्र्ता मादयन्ताम ||
sīdantu barhirviśva ā yajatrāḥ svāhādevā amṛtā mādayantām ||
On sacred grass all Holy ones be seated and let the Immortal Gods rejoice in Svāhā.
