10.93.1
महि दयावाप्र्थिवी भूतमुर्वी नारी यह्वी न रोदसीसदं नः |
mahi dyāvāpṛthivī bhūtamurvī nārī yahvī na rodasīsadaṃ naḥ |
1. MIGHTY are ye, and far-extended, Heaven and Earth: both Worlds are evermore to us like two young Dames.
10.93.2
तेभिर्नः पातं सह्यस एभिर्नः पातंशूषणि ||
tebhirnaḥ pātaṃ sahyasa ebhirnaḥ pātaṃśūṣaṇi ||
Guard us thereby from stronger foe; guard us hereby to give us strength.
10.93.3
यज्ञे-यज्ञे स मर्त्यो देवान सपर्यति |
yajñe-yajñe sa martyo devān saparyati |
2 In each succeeding sacrifice that mortal honoureth the Gods,
10.93.4
यः सुम्नैर्दीर्घश्रुत्तम आविवासत्येनान ||
yaḥ sumnairdīrghaśruttama āvivāsatyenān ||
He who, most widely known and famed for happiness, inviteth them.
10.93.5
विश्वेषामिरज्यवो देवानां वार्महः |
viśveṣāmirajyavo devānāṃ vārmahaḥ |
3 Ye who are Rulers over all, great is your sovran power as Gods.
10.93.6
विश्वे हिविश्वमहसो विश्वे यज्ञेषु यज्ञियाः ||
viśve hiviśvamahaso viśve yajñeṣu yajñiyāḥ ||
Ye all possess all majesty: all must be served in sacrifice.
10.93.7
ते घा राजानो अम्र्तस्य मन्द्रा अर्यमा मित्रो वरुणःपरिज्मा |
te ghā rājāno amṛtasya mandrā aryamā mitro varuṇaḥparijmā |
4 These are the joyous Kings of Immortality, Parijman, Mitra, Aryaman, and Varuṇa.
10.93.8
कद रुद्रो नर्णां सतुतो मरुतः पूषणो भगः ||
kad rudro nṛṇāṃ stuto marutaḥ pūṣaṇo bhaghaḥ ||
What else is Rudra, praised of men? the Maruts, Bhaga, Pūṣaṇa?
10.93.9
उत नो नक्तमपां वर्षण्वसू सूर्यामासा सदनायसधन्या |
uta no naktamapāṃ vṛṣaṇvasū sūryāmāsā sadanāyasadhanyā |
5 Come also to our dwelling, Lords of ample wealth, common partakers of our waters, Sun and Moon,
10.93.10
सचा यत साद्येषामहिर्बुध्नेषु बुध्न्यः ||
sacā yat sādyeṣāmahirbudhneṣu budhnyaḥ ||
When the great Dragon of the Deep hath settled down upon their floors.
10.93.11
उत नो देवावश्विना शुभस पती धामभिर्मित्रावरुणाुरुष्यताम |
uta no devāvaśvinā śubhas patī dhāmabhirmitrāvaruṇāuruṣyatām |
6 And let the Aśvins, Lords of splendour, set us free,—both Gods, and, with their Laws, Mitra and Varuṇa.
10.93.12
महः स राय एषते.अति धन्वेव दुरिता ||
mahaḥ sa rāya eṣate.ati dhanveva duritā ||
Through woes, as over desert lands, he speeds to ample opulence.
10.93.13
उत नो रुद्रा चिन मर्ळतामश्विना विश्वे देवासो रथस्पतिर्भगः |
uta no rudrā cin mṛḷatāmaśvinā viśve devāso rathaspatirbhaghaḥ |
7 Yea, let the Aśvins Twain he gracious unto us, even Rudras, and all Gods, Bhaga, Rathaspati;
10.93.14
रभुर्वाज रभुक्षणः परिज्मा विश्ववेदसः ||
ṛbhurvāja ṛbhukṣaṇaḥ parijmā viśvavedasaḥ ||
Parijman, Ṛbhu, Vāja, O Lords of all wealth Ṛbhukṣaṇas.
10.93.15
रभुरभुक्षा रभुर्विधतो मद आ ते हरी जूजुवानस्यवाजिना |
ṛbhurbhukṣā ṛbhurvidhato mada ā te harī jūjuvānasyavājinā |
8 Prompt is Ṛbhukṣan, prompt the worshipper's strong drink: may thy fleet Bay Steeds, thine who speedest on, approach.
10.93.16
दुष्टरं यस्य साम चिद रधग यज्ञो नमानुषः ||
duṣṭaraṃ yasya sāma cid ṛdhagh yajño namānuṣaḥ ||
Not mans but God's is sacrifice whose psalm is unassailable.
10.93.17
कर्धी नो अह्रयो देव सवितः स च सतुषे मघोनाम |
kṛdhī no ahrayo deva savitaḥ sa ca stuṣe maghonām |
9 O God Savitar, harmed by none, lauded, give us a place among wealthy princes.
10.93.18
सहो नैन्द्रो वह्निभिर्न्येषां चर्षणीनां चक्रं रश्मिं नयोयुवे ||
saho naindro vahnibhirnyeṣāṃ carṣaṇīnāṃ cakraṃ raśmiṃ nayoyuve ||
With his Car-steeds at once 'hath our Indra guided the reins and the car of these men.
10.93.19
ऐषु दयावाप्र्थिवी धातं महदस्मे वीरेषु विश्वचर्षणिश्रवः |
aiṣu dyāvāpṛthivī dhātaṃ mahadasme vīreṣu viśvacarṣaṇiśravaḥ |
10 To these men present here, O Heaven and Earth, to us grant lofty fame extending over all mankind.
10.93.20
पर्क्षं वाजस्य सातये पर्क्षं रायोततुर्वणे ||
pṛkṣaṃ vājasya sātaye pṛkṣaṃ rāyotaturvaṇe ||
Give us a steed to win us strength, a steed with wealth for victory.
10.93.21
एतं शंसमिन्द्रास्मयुष टवं कूचित सन्तं सहसावन्नभिष्टये सदा पाह्यभिष्टये |
etaṃ śaṃsamindrāsmayuṣ ṭvaṃ kūcit santaṃ sahasāvannabhiṣṭaye sadā pāhyabhiṣṭaye |
11 This speaker, Indra—for thou art our Friend—wherever he may be, guard thou, Victor! for help, ever for help
10.93.22
मेदतां वेदता वसो ||
medatāṃ vedatā vaso ||
Thy wisdom, Vasu! prosper him.
10.93.23
एतं मे सतोमं तना न सूर्ये दयुतद्यामानं वाव्र्धन्तन्र्णाम |
etaṃ me stomaṃ tanā na sūrye dyutadyāmānaṃ vāvṛdhantanṛṇām |
12 So have they strengthened this mine hymn which seems to take its bright path to the Sun, and reconciles the men:
10.93.24
संवननं नाश्व्यं तष्टेवानपच्युतम ||
saṃvananaṃ nāśvyaṃ taṣṭevānapacyutam ||
Thus forms a carpenter the yoke of horses, not to be displaced.
10.93.25
वावर्त येषां राया युक्तैषां हिरण्ययी |
vāvarta yeṣāṃ rāyā yuktaiṣāṃ hiraṇyayī |
13 Whose chariot-seat hath come again laden with wealth and bright with gold,
10.93.26
नेमधितान पौंस्या वर्थेव विष्टान्ता ||
nemadhitāna pauṃsyā vṛtheva viṣṭāntā ||
Lightly, with piercing ends, as ’twere two ranks of heroes ranged for fight.
10.93.27
पर तद दुःशीमे पर्थवाने वेने पर रामे वोचमसुरेमघवत्सु |
pra tad duḥśīme pṛthavāne vene pra rāme vocamasuremaghavatsu |
14 This to Duḥśīma Pṛthavāna have I sung, to Vena, Rama, to the nobles, and the King.
10.93.28
ये युक्त्वाय पञ्च शतास्मयु पथा विश्राव्येषाम ||
ye yuktvāya pañca śatāsmayu pathā viśrāvyeṣām ||
They yoked five hundred, and their love of us was famed upon their way.
10.93.29
अधीन नवत्र सप्ततिं च सप्त च |
adhīn nvatra saptatiṃ ca sapta ca |
15 Besides, they showed us seven-and-seventy horses here.
10.93.30
सद्यो दिदिष्ट तान्वःसद्यो दिदिष्ट पार्थ्यः सद्यो दिदिष्ट मायवः ||
sadyo didiṣṭa tānvaḥsadyo didiṣṭa pārthyaḥ sadyo didiṣṭa māyavaḥ ||
Tānva at once displayed his gift, Pārthya at once displayed his gift; and straightway Māyava showed his.
