10.99.1
कं नश्चित्रमिषण्यसि चिकित्वान पर्थुग्मानं वाश्रंवाव्र्धध्यै |
kaṃ naścitramiṣaṇyasi cikitvān pṛthughmānaṃ vāśraṃvāvṛdhadhyai |
1. WHAT Splendid One, Loud-voiced, Farstriding, dost thou, well knowing, urge us to exalt with praises?
10.99.2
कत तस्य दातु शवसो वयुष्टौ तक्षद्वज्रं वर्त्रतुरमपिन्वत ||
kat tasya dātu śavaso vyuṣṭau takṣadvajraṃ vṛtraturamapinvat ||
What give we him? When his might dawned, he fashioned the Vṛtra-slaying bolt, and sent us waters.
10.99.3
स हि दयुता विद्युता वेति साम पर्थुं योनिमसुरत्वाससाद |
sa hi dyutā vidyutā veti sāma pṛthuṃ yonimasuratvāsasāda |
2 He goes to end his work with lightning flashes: wide is the seat his Asura glory gives him.
10.99.4
स सनीळेभिः परसहानो अस्य भरातुर्न रतेसप्तथस्य मायाः ||
sa sanīḷebhiḥ prasahāno asya bhrāturna ṛtesaptathasya māyāḥ ||
With his Companions, not without his Brother, he quells Saptatha's magic devices.
10.99.5
स वाजं यातापदुष्पदा यन सवर्षाता परि षदत्सनिष्यन |
sa vājaṃ yātāpaduṣpadā yan svarṣātā pari ṣadatsaniṣyan |
3 On most auspicious path he goes to battle he toiled to win heaven's light, full fain to gain it;
10.99.6
अनर्वा यच्छतदुरस्य वेदो घनञ्छिश्नदेवानभि वर्पसा भूत ||
anarvā yacchatadurasya vedo ghnañchiśnadevānabhi varpasā bhūt ||
He seized the hundred-gated castle's treasure by craft, unchecked, and slew the lustful demons.
10.99.7
स यह्व्यो.अवनीर्गोष्वर्वा जुहोति परधन्यासु सस्रिः |
sa yahvyo.avanīrghoṣvarvā juhoti pradhanyāsu sasriḥ |
4 Fighting for kine, the prize of war, and I roaming among the berd be brings the young streams hither,

अपादो यत्र युज्यासो.अरथा दरोण्यश्वास ईरते घर्तंवाः ||
apādo yatra yujyāso.arathā droṇyaśvāsa īrate ghṛtaṃvāḥ ||
Where, footless, joined, without a car to bear them, with jars for steeds, they pour their flood like butter.

स रुद्रेभिरशस्तवार रभ्वा हित्वी गयमारेवद्यागात |
sa rudrebhiraśastavāra ṛbhvā hitvī ghayamāreavadyaāghāt |
5 Bold, unsolicited for wealth, with Rudras he came, the Blameless, having left his dwelling,
10.99.10
वम्रस्य मन्ये मिथुना विवव्री अन्नमभीत्यारोदयन्मुषायन ||
vamrasya manye mithunā vivavrī annamabhītyārodayanmuṣāyan ||
Came, seized the food of Vamra and his consort, and left the couple weeping and unsheltered.
10.99.11
स इद दासं तुवीरवं पतिर्दन षळक्षन्त्रिशीर्षाणं दमन्यत |
sa id dāsaṃ tuvīravaṃ patirdan ṣaḷakṣantriśīrṣāṇaṃ damanyat |
6 Lord of the dwelling, he subdued the demon who roared aloud, six-eyed and triple-headed.
10.99.12
अस्य तरितो नवोजसा वर्धानो विपावराहमयोग्रया हन ||
asya trito nvojasā vṛdhāno vipāvarāhamayoaghrayā han ||
Tṛta, made stronger by the might he lent him, struck down the boar with shaft whose point was iron.
10.99.13
स दरुह्वणे मनुष ऊर्ध्वसान आ साविषदर्शसानायशरुम |
sa druhvaṇe manuṣa ūrdhvasāna ā sāviṣadarśasānāyaśarum |
7 He raised himself on high and shot his arrow against the guileful and oppressive foeman.
10.99.14
स नर्तमो नहुषो.अस्मत सुजातः पुरो.अभिनदर्हन्दस्युहत्ये ||
sa nṛtamo nahuṣo.asmat sujātaḥ puro.abhinadarhandasyuhatye ||
Strong, glorious, manliest, for us he shattered the forts of Nabus when he slew the Dasyus.
10.99.15
सो अभ्रियो न यवस उदन्यन कषयाय गातुं विदन नो अस्मे |
so abhriyo na yavasa udanyan kṣayāya ghātuṃ vidan no asme |
8 He, like a cloud that rains upon the pasture, hath found for us the way to dwell in safety.
10.99.16
उप यत सीददिन्दुं शरीरैः शयेनो.अयोपाष्टिर्हन्तिदस्यून ||
upa yat sīdadinduṃ śarīraiḥ śyeno.ayopāṣṭirhantidasyūn ||
When the Hawk comes in body to the Soma, armed with his iron claws he slays the Dasyus.
10.99.17
स वराधतः शवसानेभिरस्य कुत्साय शुष्णं कर्पणेपरादात |
sa vrādhataḥ śavasānebhirasya kutsāya śuṣṇaṃ kṛpaṇeparādāt |
9 He with his potent Friends gave up the mighty, gave gusnia up to Kutsa for affliction.
10.99.18
अयं कविमनयच्छस्यमानमत्कं वो अस्यसनितोत नर्णाम ||
ayaṃ kavimanayacchasyamānamatkaṃ vo asyasanitota nṛṇām ||
He led the lauded Kavi, he delivered Atka as prey to him and to his heroes.
10.99.19
अयं दशस्यन नर्येभिरस्य दस्मो देवेभिर्वरुणो नमायी |
ayaṃ daśasyan naryebhirasya dasmo devebhirvaruṇo namāyī |
10 He, with his Gods who love mankind, the Wondrous, giving like Varuṇa who works with magic,

अयं कनीन रतुपा अवेद्यमिमीताररुं यश्चतुष्पात ||
ayaṃ kanīna ṛtupā avedyamimītāraruṃ yaścatuṣpāt ||
Was known, yet young as guardian of the seasons; and he quelled Araru, four-footed dernon.
10.99.21
अस्य सतोमेभिरौशिज रजिश्वा वरजं दरयद वर्षभेणपिप्रोः |
asya stomebhirauśija ṛjiśvā vrajaṃ darayad vṛṣabheṇapiproḥ |
11 Through lauds of him hath Auśija Ṛjiśvan burst, with the Mighty's aid, the stall of Pipru.
10.99.22
सुत्वा यद यजतो दीदयद गीः पुर इयानो अभिवर्पसा भूत ||
sutvā yad yajato dīdayad ghīḥ pura iyāno abhivarpasā bhūt ||
When the saint pressed the juice and shone as singer, he seized the forts and with his craft subdued them.
10.99.23
एवा महो असुर वक्षथाय वम्रकः पड्भिरुप सर्पदिन्द्रम |
evā maho asura vakṣathāya vamrakaḥ paḍbhirupa sarpadindram |
12 So, swiftly Asura, for exaltation, hath the great Vamraka come nigh to Indra.
10.99.24
स इयानः करति सवस्तिमस्मा इषमूर्जंसुक्षितिं विश्वमाभाः ||
sa iyānaḥ karati svastimasmā iṣamūrjaṃsukṣitiṃ viśvamābhāḥ ||
He will, when supplicated, bring him blessing: he hath brought all, food, strength, a happy dwelling.
