3.51.1
चर्षणीध्र्तं मघवानमुक्थ्यमिन्द्रं गिरो बर्हतीरभ्यनूषत |
carṣaṇīdhṛtaṃ maghavānamukthyamindraṃ ghiro bṛhatīrabhyanūṣata |
1. HIGH hymns have sounded forth the praise of Maghavan, supporter of mankind, of Indra meet for lauds;
3.51.2
वाव्र्धानं पुरुहूतं सुव्र्क्तिभिरमर्त्यं जरमाणं दिवे-दिवे ||
vāvṛdhānaṃ puruhūtaṃ suvṛktibhiramartyaṃ jaramāṇaṃ dive-dive ||
Him who hath waxen great, invoked with beauteous songs, Immortal One, whose praise each day is sung aloud.
3.51.3
शतक्रतुमर्णवं शाकिनं नरं गिरो म इन्द्रमुप यन्ति विश्वतः |
śatakratumarṇavaṃ śākinaṃ naraṃ ghiro ma indramupa yanti viśvataḥ |
2 To Indra from all sides go forth my songs of praise, the Lord of Hundred Powers, strong, Hero, like the sea,
3.51.4
वाजसनिं पूर्भिदं तूर्णिमप्तुरं धामसाचमभिषाचं सवर्विदम ||
vājasaniṃ pūrbhidaṃ tūrṇimapturaṃ dhāmasācamabhiṣācaṃ svarvidam ||
Swift, winner of the booty, breaker-down of forts, faithful and ever-glorious, finder of the light.
3.51.5
आकरे वसोर्जरिता पनस्यते.अनेहस सतुभ इन्द्रो दुवस्यति |
ākare vasorjaritā panasyate.anehasa stubha indro duvasyati |
3 Where battle's spoil is piled the singer winneth praise, for Indra taketh care of matchless worshippers.
3.51.6
विवस्वतः सदन आ हि पिप्रिये सत्रासाहमभिमातिहनं सतुहि ||
vivasvataḥ sadana ā hi pipriye satrāsāhamabhimātihanaṃ stuhi ||
He in Vivasvān's dwelling findeth his delight: praise thou the ever-conquering slayer of the foe.
3.51.7
नर्णामु तवा नर्तमं गीर्भिरुक्थैरभि पर वीरमर्चता सबाधः |
nṛṇāmu tvā nṛtamaṃ ghīrbhirukthairabhi pra vīramarcatā sabādhaḥ |
4 Thee, valorous, most heroic of the heroes, shall the priests glorify with songg and praises.
3.51.8
सं सहसे पुरुमायो जिहीते नमो अस्य परदिव एक ईशे ||
saṃ sahase purumāyo jihīte namo asya pradiva eka īśe ||
Full of all wondrous power he goes to conquest: worship is his, sole Lord from days aforetime.
3.51.9
पूर्वीरस्य निष्षिधो मर्त्येषु पुरू वसूनि पर्थिवी बिभर्ति |
pūrvīrasya niṣṣidho martyeṣu purū vasūni pṛthivī bibharti |
5 Abundant are the gifts he gives to mortals: for him the earth bears a rich store of treasures.
3.51.10
इन्द्राय दयाव ओषधीरुतापो रयिं रक्षन्ति जीरयो वनानि ||
indrāya dyāva oṣadhīrutāpo rayiṃ rakṣanti jīrayo vanāni ||
The heavens, the growing plants, the living waters, the forest trees preserve their wealth for Indra.
3.51.11
तुभ्यं बरह्माणि गिर इन्द्र तुभ्यं सत्रा दधिरे हरिवो जुषस्व |
tubhyaṃ brahmāṇi ghira indra tubhyaṃ satrā dadhire harivo juṣasva |
6 To thee, O Indra, Lord of Bays, for ever are offered prayers and songs: accept them gladly.
3.51.12
बोध्यापिरवसो नूतनस्य सखे वसो जरित्र्भ्यो वयोधाः ||
bodhyāpiravaso nūtanasya sakhe vaso jaritṛbhyo vayodhāḥ ||
As Kinsman think thou of some fresh assistance; good Friend, give strength and life to those who praise thee.
3.51.13
इन्द्र मरुत्व इह पाहि सोमं यथा शार्याते अपिबः सुतस्य |
indra marutva iha pāhi somaṃ yathā śāryāte apibaḥ sutasya |
7 Here, Indra, drink thou Soma with the Maruts, as thou didst drink the juice beside Śāryāta.
3.51.14
तव परणीती तव शूर शर्मन्ना विवासन्ति कवयःसुयज्ञाः ||
tava praṇītī tava śūra śarmannā vivāsanti kavayaḥsuyajñāḥ ||
Under thy guidance, in thy keeping, Hero, the singers serve, skilled in fair sacrifices.
3.51.15
स वावशान इह पाहि सोमं मरुद्भिरिन्द्र सखिभिः सुतं नः |
sa vāvaśāna iha pāhi somaṃ marudbhirindra sakhibhiḥ sutaṃ naḥ |
8 So eagerly desirous drink the Soma, our juice, O Indra, with thy friends the Maruts,
3.51.16
जातं यत तवा परि देवा अभूषन महे भराय पुरुहूत विश्वे ||
jātaṃ yat tvā pari devā abhūṣan mahe bharāya puruhūta viśve ||
Since at thy birth all Deities adorned thee for the great fight, O thou invoked of many.
3.51.17
अप्तूर्ये मरुत आपिरेषो.अमन्दन्निन्द्रमनु दातिवाराः |
aptūrye maruta āpireṣo.amandannindramanu dātivārāḥ |
9 He was your comrade in your zeal, O Maruts: they, rich in noble gifts, rejoiced in Indra.
3.51.18
तेभिः साकं पिबतु वर्त्रखादः सुतं सोमं दाशुषः सवे सधस्थे ||
tebhiḥ sākaṃ pibatu vṛtrakhādaḥ sutaṃ somaṃ dāśuṣaḥ sve sadhasthe ||
With them together let the Vṛtra-slayer drink in his home the worshipper's libation.
3.51.19
इदं हयन्वोजसा सुतं राधानां पते |
idaṃ hyanvojasā sutaṃ rādhānāṃ pate |
10 So, Lord of affluent gifts, this juice hath been pressed for thee with strength
3.51.20
पिबा तवस्य गिर्वणः ||
pibā tvasya ghirvaṇaḥ ||
Drink of it, thou who lovest song.
3.51.21
यस्ते अनु सवधामसत सुते नि यछ तन्वम |
yaste anu svadhāmasat sute ni yacha tanvam |
11 Incline thy body to this juice which suits thy Godlike nature well:
3.51.22
स तवा ममत्तु सोम्यम ||
sa tvā mamattu somyam ||
May it cheer thee who lovest it.
3.51.23
पर ते अश्नोतु कुक्ष्योः परेन्द्र बरह्मणा शिरः |
pra te aśnotu kukṣyoḥ prendra brahmaṇā śiraḥ |
12 Brave Indra, let it work through both thy flanks, and through thy head by prayer,
3.51.24
पर बाहू शूर राधसे ||
pra bāhū śūra rādhase ||
And through thine arms, to prosper us.
