3.61.1
उषो वाजेन वाजिनि परचेता सतोमं जुषस्व गर्णतो मघोनि |
uṣo vājena vājini pracetā stomaṃ juṣasva ghṛṇato maghoni |
1. O Uṣas, strong with strength, endowed witli knowledge, accept the singer's praise, O wealthy Lady.
3.61.2
पुराणी देवि युवतिः पुरन्धिरनु वरतं चरसि विश्ववारे ||
purāṇī devi yuvatiḥ purandhiranu vrataṃ carasi viśvavāre ||
Thou, Goddess, ancient, young, and full of wisdom, movest, all-bounteous! as the Law ordaineth.
3.61.3
उषो देव्यमर्त्या वि भाहि चन्द्ररथा सून्र्ता ईरयन्ती |
uṣo devyamartyā vi bhāhi candrarathā sūnṛtā īrayantī |
2 Shine forth, O Morning, thou auspicious Goddess, on thy bright car awaking pleasant voices.
3.61.4
आ तवा वहन्तु सुयमासो अश्वा हिरण्यवर्णां पर्थुपाजसो ये ||
ā tvā vahantu suyamāso aśvā hiraṇyavarṇāṃ pṛthupājaso ye ||
Let docile horses of far-reaching splendour convey thee hitherward, the goldencoloured.
3.61.5
उषः परतीची भुवनानि विश्वोर्ध्वा तिष्ठस्यम्र्तस्य केतुः |
uṣaḥ pratīcī bhuvanāni viśvordhvā tiṣṭhasyamṛtasya ketuḥ |
3 Thou, Morning, turning thee to every creature, standest on high as ensign of the Immortal,
3.61.6
समानमर्थं चरणीयमाना चक्रमिव नव्यस्या वव्र्त्स्व ||
samānamarthaṃ caraṇīyamānā cakramiva navyasyā vavṛtsva ||
To one same goal ever and ever wending now, like a wheel, O newly-born, roll hi ther.
3.61.7
अव सयूमेव चिन्वती मघोन्युषा याति सवसरस्य पत्नी |
ava syūmeva cinvatī maghonyuṣā yāti svasarasya patnī |
4 Letting her reins drop downward, Morning cometh, the wealthy Dame, the Lady of the dwelling;
3.61.8
सवर्जनन्ती सुभगा सुदंसा आन्ताद दिवः पप्रथ आ पर्थिव्याः ||
svarjanantī subhaghā sudaṃsā āntād divaḥ papratha ā pṛthivyāḥ ||
Bringing forth light, the Wonderful, the Blessed hath spread her from the bounds of earth and heaven.
3.61.9
अछा वो देवीमुषसं विभातीं पर वो भरध्वं नमसा सुव्र्क्तिम |
achā vo devīmuṣasaṃ vibhātīṃ pra vo bharadhvaṃ namasā suvṛktim |
5 Hither invoke the radiant Goddess Morning, and bring with reverence your hymn to praise her.
3.61.10
ऊर्ध्वं मधुधा दिवि पाजो अश्रेत पर रोचना रुरुचे रण्वसन्द्र्क ||
ūrdhvaṃ madhudhā divi pājo aśret pra rocanā ruruce raṇvasandṛk ||
She, dropping sweets, hath set in heaven her brightness, and, fair to look on, hath beamed forth her splendour.
3.61.11
रतावरी दिवो अर्कैरबोध्या रेवती रोदसी चित्रमस्थात |
ṛtāvarī divo arkairabodhyā revatī rodasī citramasthāt |
6 From heaven, with hymns, the Holy One was wakened: brightly to both worlds came the wealthy Lady.
3.61.12
आयतीमग्न उषसं विभातीं वाममेषि दरविणं भिक्षमाणः ||
āyatīmaghna uṣasaṃ vibhātīṃ vāmameṣi draviṇaṃ bhikṣamāṇaḥ ||
To Morning, Agni, when she comes refulgent, thou goest forth soliciting fair riches.
3.61.13
रतस्य बुध्न उषसामिषण्यन वर्षा मही रोदसी आ विवेश |
ṛtasya budhna uṣasāmiṣaṇyan vṛṣā mahī rodasī ā viveśa |
7 On Law's firm base the speeder of the Mornings, the Bull, hath entered mighty earth and heaven.
3.61.14
मही मित्रस्य वरुणस्य माया चन्द्रेव भानुं वि दधे पुरुत्रा ||
mahī mitrasya varuṇasya māyā candreva bhānuṃ vi dadhe purutrā ||
Great is the power of Varuṇa and Mitra, which, bright, hath spread in every place its splendour.
