5.37.1
सम भानुना यतते सूर्यस्याजुह्वानो घर्तप्र्ष्ठः सवञ्चाः |
sam bhānunā yatate sūryasyājuhvāno ghṛtapṛṣṭhaḥ svañcāḥ |
1. BEDEWED with holy oil and meetly worshipped, the Swift One vies with Sūrya's beam in splendour.
5.37.2
तस्मा अम्र्ध्रा उषसो वय उछान य इन्द्राय सुनवामेत्य आह ||
tasmā amṛdhrā uṣaso vy uchān ya indrāya sunavāmety āha ||
For him may mornings dawn without cessation who saith, Let us press Soma out for Indra.
5.37.3
समिद्धाग्निर वनवत सतीर्णबर्हिर युक्तग्रावा सुतसोमो जराते |
samiddhāghnir vanavat stīrṇabarhir yuktaghrāvā sutasomo jarāte |
2 With kindled fire and strewn grass let him worship, and, Soma-presser, sing with stones adjusted:
5.37.4
गरावाणो यस्येषिरं वदन्त्य अयद अध्वर्युर हविषाव सिन्धुम ||
ghrāvāṇo yasyeṣiraṃ vadanty ayad adhvaryur haviṣāva sindhum ||
And let the priest whose press-stones ring forth loudly, go down with his oblation to the river.
5.37.5
वधूर इयम पतिम इछन्त्य एति य ईं वहाते महिषीम इषिराम |
vadhūr iyam patim ichanty eti ya īṃ vahāte mahiṣīm iṣirām |
3 This wife is coming near who loves her husband who carries to his home a vigorous consort.
5.37.6
आस्य शरवस्याद रथ आ च घोषात पुरू सहस्रा परि वर्तयाते ||
āsya śravasyād ratha ā ca ghoṣāt purū sahasrā pari vartayāte ||
Here may his car seek fame, here loudly thunder, and his wheel make a thousand revolutions.
5.37.7
न स राजा वयथते यस्मिन्न इन्द्रस तीव्रं सोमम पिबति गोसखायम |
na sa rājā vyathate yasminn indras tīvraṃ somam pibati ghosakhāyam |
4 No troubles vex that King in whose home Indra drinks the sharp Soma juice with milk commingled.
5.37.8
आ सत्वनैर अजति हन्ति वर्त्रं कषेति कषितीः सुभगो नाम पुष्यन ||
ā satvanair ajati hanti vṛtraṃ kṣeti kṣitīḥ subhagho nāma puṣyan ||
With heroes he drives near, he slays the foeman: Blest, cherishing that name, he guards his people.
5.37.9
पुष्यात कषेमे अभि योगे भवात्य उभे वर्तौ संयती सं जयाति |
puṣyāt kṣeme abhi yoghe bhavāty ubhe vṛtau saṃyatī saṃ jayāti |
5 May he support in peace and win in battle: he masters both the hosts that meet together.
5.37.10
परियः सूर्ये परियो अग्ना भवाति य इन्द्राय सुतसोमो ददाशत ||
priyaḥ sūrye priyo aghnā bhavāti ya indrāya sutasomo dadāśat ||
Dear shall he be to Sūrya, dear to Agni, who with pressed Soma offers gifts to India.
