5.47.1
परयुञ्जती दिव एति बरुवाणा मही माता दुहितुर बोधयन्ती |
prayuñjatī diva eti bruvāṇā mahī mātā duhitur bodhayantī |
1. URGING to toil and making proclamation, seeking Heaven's Daughter comes the Mighty Mother:
5.47.2
आविवासन्ती युवतिर मनीषा पित्र्भ्य आ सदने जोहुवाना ||
āvivāsantī yuvatir manīṣā pitṛbhya ā sadane johuvānā ||
She comes, the youthful Hymn, unto the Fathers, inviting to her home and loudly calling.
5.47.3
अजिरासस तदप ईयमाना आतस्थिवांसो अम्र्तस्य नाभिम |
ajirāsas tadapa īyamānā ātasthivāṃso amṛtasya nābhim |
2 Swift in their motion, hasting to their duty, reaching the central point of life immortal,
5.47.4
अनन्तास उरवो विश्वतः सीम परि दयावाप्र्थिवी यन्ति पन्थाः ||
anantāsa uravo viśvataḥ sīm pari dyāvāpṛthivī yanti panthāḥ ||
On every side about the earth and heaven go forth the spacious paths without a limit.
5.47.5
उक्षा समुद्रो अरुषः सुपर्णः पूर्वस्य योनिम पितुर आ विवेश |
ukṣā samudro aruṣaḥ suparṇaḥ pūrvasya yonim pitur ā viveśa |
3 Steer, Sea, Red Bird with strong wings, he hath entered the dwelling-place of the Primeval Father.
5.47.6
मध्ये दिवो निहितः पर्श्निर अश्मा वि चक्रमे रजसस पात्य अन्तौ ||
madhye divo nihitaḥ pṛśnir aśmā vi cakrame rajasas pāty antau ||
A gay-hued Stone set in the midst of heaven, he hath gone forth and guards mid-air's two limits.
5.47.7
चत्वार ईम बिभ्रति कषेमयन्तो दश गर्भं चरसे धापयन्ते |
catvāra īm bibhrati kṣemayanto daśa gharbhaṃ carase dhāpayante |
4 Four bear him up and give him rest and quiet, and ten invigorate the Babe for travel.
5.47.8
तरिधातवः परमा अस्य गावो दिवश चरन्ति परि सद्यो अन्तान ||
tridhātavaḥ paramā asya ghāvo divaś caranti pari sadyo antān ||
His kine most excellent, of threefold nature, pass swiftly round the boundaries of heaven.
5.47.9
इदं वपुर निवचनं जनासश चरन्ति यन नद्यस तस्थुर आपः |
idaṃ vapur nivacanaṃ janāsaś caranti yan nadyas tasthur āpaḥ |
5 Wondrous, O people, is the mystic knowledge that while the waters stand the streams are flowing:
5.47.10
दवे यद ईम बिभ्र्तो मातुर अन्ये इहेह जाते यम्य्र सबन्धू ||
dve yad īm bibhṛto mātur anye iheha jāte yamyṛ sabandhū ||
That, separate from his Mother, Two support him, closely-united, twins, here made apparent.
5.47.11
वि तन्वते धियो अस्मा अपांसि वस्त्रा पुत्राय मातरो वयन्ति |
vi tanvate dhiyo asmā apāṃsi vastrā putrāya mātaro vayanti |
6 For him they lenghten prayers and acts of worship: the Mothers weave garments for him their offspring.
5.47.12
उपप्रक्षे वर्षणो मोदमाना दिवस पथा वध्वो यन्त्य अछ ||
upaprakṣe vṛṣaṇo modamānā divas pathā vadhvo yanty acha ||
Rejoicing, for the Steer's impregning contact, his Spouses move on paths or heaven to meet him.
5.47.13
तद अस्तु मित्रावरुणा तद अग्ने शं योर अस्मभ्यम इदम अस्तु शस्तम |
tad astu mitrāvaruṇā tad aghne śaṃ yor asmabhyam idam astu śastam |
7 Be this our praise, O Varuṇa and Mitra may this be health and force to us, O Agni.
5.47.14
अशीमहि गाधम उत परतिष्ठां नमो दिवे बर्हते सादनाय ||
aśīmahi ghādham uta pratiṣṭhāṃ namo dive bṛhate sādanāya ||
May we obtain firm ground and room for resting: Glory to Heaven, the lofty habitation!
