6.26.1
शरुधी न इन्द्र हवयामसि तवा महो वाजस्य सातौ वाव्र्षाणाः |
śrudhī na indra hvayāmasi tvā maho vājasya sātau vāvṛṣāṇāḥ |
1. O INDRA, hear us. Raining down the Soma, we call on thee to win us mighty valour.
6.26.2
सं यद विशो.अयन्त शूरसाता उग्रं नो.अवः पार्ये अहन दाः ||
saṃ yad viśo.ayanta śūrasātā ughraṃ no.avaḥ pārye ahan dāḥ ||
Give us strong succour on the day of trial, when the tribes gather on the field of battle.
6.26.3
तवां वाजी हवते वाजिनेयो महो वाजस्य गध्यस्य सातौ |
tvāṃ vājī havate vājineyo maho vājasya ghadhyasya sātau |
2 The warrior, son of warrior sire, invokes thee, to gain great strength that may be won as booty:
6.26.4
तवां वर्त्रेष्विन्द्र सत्पतिं तरुत्रं तवां चष्टे मुष्टिहा गोषु युध्यन ||
tvāṃ vṛtreṣvindra satpatiṃ tarutraṃ tvāṃ caṣṭe muṣṭihā ghoṣu yudhyan ||
To thee, the brave man's Lord, the fiends' subduer, he looks when fighting hand to hand for cattle.
6.26.5
तवं कविं चोदयो.अर्कसातौ तवं कुत्साय शुष्णं दाशुषे वर्क |
tvaṃ kaviṃ codayo.arkasātau tvaṃ kutsāya śuṣṇaṃ dāśuṣe vark |
3 Thou didst impel the sage to win the daylight, didst ruin Śuṣṇa for the pious Kutsa.
6.26.6
तवं शिरो अमर्मणः पराहन्नतिथिग्वाय शंस्यं करिष्यन ||
tvaṃ śiro amarmaṇaḥ parāhannatithighvāya śaṃsyaṃ kariṣyan ||
The invulnerable demon's head thou clavest when thou wouldst win the praise of Atithigva.
6.26.7
तवं रथं पर भरो योधं रष्वमावो युध्यन्तं वर्षभं दशद्युम |
tvaṃ rathaṃ pra bharo yodhaṃ ṛṣvamāvo yudhyantaṃ vṛṣabhaṃ daśadyum |
4 The lofty battle-car thou broughtest forward; thou holpest Dasadyu the strong when fighting.
6.26.8
तवं तुग्रं वेतसवे सचाहन तवं तुजिं गर्णन्तमिन्द्र तूतोः ||
tvaṃ tughraṃ vetasave sacāhan tvaṃ tujiṃ ghṛṇantamindra tūtoḥ ||
Along with Vetasu thou slewest Tugra, and madest Tuji strong, who praised thee, Indra.
6.26.9
तवं तदुक्थमिन्द्र बर्हणा कः पर यच्छता सहस्राशूर दर्षि |
tvaṃ tadukthamindra barhaṇā kaḥ pra yacchatā sahasrāśūra darṣi |
5 Thou madest good the laud, what time thou rentest a hundred thousand fighting foes, O Hero,
6.26.10
अव गिरेर्दासं शम्बरं हन परावो दिवोदासं चित्राभिरूती ||
ava ghirerdāsaṃ śambaraṃ han prāvo divodāsaṃ citrābhirūtī ||
Slewest the Dāsa Śambara of the mountain, and with strange aids didst succour Divodāsa.
6.26.11
तवं शरद्धाभिर्मन्दसानः सोमैर्दभीतये चुमुरिमिन्द्रसिष्वप |
tvaṃ śraddhābhirmandasānaḥ somairdabhītaye cumurimindrasiṣvap |
6 Made glad with Soma-draughts and faith, thou sentest Cumuri to his sleep, to please Dabhīti.
6.26.12
तवं रजिं पिठीनसे दशस्यन षष्टिं सहस्राशच्या सचाहन ||
tvaṃ rajiṃ piṭhīnase daśasyan ṣaṣṭiṃ sahasrāśacyā sacāhan ||
Thou, kindly giving Raji to Pithinas, slewest with might, at once, the sixty thousand.
6.26.13
अहं चन तत सूरिभिरानश्यां तव जयाय इन्द्र सुम्नमोजः |
ahaṃ cana tat sūribhirānaśyāṃ tava jyāya indra sumnamojaḥ |
7 May I too, with the liberal chiefs, O Indra, acquire thy blin supreme and domination,
6.26.14
तवया यत सतवन्ते सधवीर वीरास्त्रिवरूथेन नहुषा शविष्ठ ||
tvayā yat stavante sadhavīra vīrāstrivarūthena nahuṣā śaviṣṭha ||
When, Mightiest! Hero-girt! Nahuṣa heroes boast them in thee, the triply-strong Defender.
6.26.15
वयं ते अस्यामिन्द्र दयुम्नहूतौ सखायः सयाम महिन परेष्ठाः |
vayaṃ te asyāmindra dyumnahūtau sakhāyaḥ syāma mahina preṣṭhāḥ |
8 So may we he thy friends, thy best beloved, O Indra, at this holy invocation.
6.26.16
परातर्दनिः कषत्रश्रीरस्तु शरेष्ठो घने वर्त्राणां सनये धनानाम ||
prātardaniḥ kṣatraśrīrastu śreṣṭho ghane vṛtrāṇāṃ sanaye dhanānām ||
Best be Pratardani, illustrious ruler, in slaying foemen and in gaining riches.
