6.52.1
न तद दिवा न पर्थिव्यानु मन्ये न यज्ञेन नोत शमीभिराभिः |
na tad divā na pṛthivyānu manye na yajñena nota śamībhirābhiḥ |
1. THIS I allow not in the earth or heaven, at sacrifice or in these holy duties.
6.52.2
उब्जन्तु तं सुभ्वः पर्वतासो नि हीयतामतियाजस्य यष्टा ||
ubjantu taṃ subhvaḥ parvatāso ni hīyatāmatiyājasya yaṣṭā ||
May the huge mountains crush him down: degraded be Atiyaja's sacrificing patron.
6.52.3
अति वा यो मरुतो मन्यते नो बरह्म वा यः करियमाणं निनित्सात |
ati vā yo maruto manyate no brahma vā yaḥ kriyamāṇaṃ ninitsāt |
2 Or he who holds us in contempt, O Maruts, or seeks to blame the prayer that we are making,
6.52.4
तपूंषि तस्मै वर्जिनानि सन्तु बरह्मद्विषमभि तं शोचतु दयौः ||
tapūṃṣi tasmai vṛjināni santu brahmadviṣamabhi taṃ śocatu dyauḥ ||
May agonies of burning be his portion. May the sky scorch the man who hates devotion.
6.52.5
किमङग तवा बरह्मणः सोम गोपां किमङग तवाहुरभिशस्तिपां नः |
kimaṅgha tvā brahmaṇaḥ soma ghopāṃ kimaṅgha tvāhurabhiśastipāṃ naḥ |
3 Why then, O Soma, do they call thee keeper of prayer? Why then our guardian from reproaches?
6.52.6
किमङग नः पश्यसि निद्यमानान बरह्मद्विषे तपुषिं हेतिमस्य ||
kimaṅgha naḥ paśyasi nidyamānān brahmadviṣe tapuṣiṃ hetimasya ||
Why then beholdest thou how men revile us? Cast thy hot dart at him who hates devotion.
6.52.7
अवन्तु मामुषसो जायमाना अवन्तु मा सिन्धवः पिन्वमानाः |
avantu māmuṣaso jāyamānā avantu mā sindhavaḥ pinvamānāḥ |
4 May Mornings as they spring to life, protect me, and may the Rivers as they swell preserve me.
6.52.8
अवन्तु मा पर्वतासो धरुवासो.अवन्तु मा पितरो देवहूतौ ||
avantu mā parvatāso dhruvāso.avantu mā pitaro devahūtau ||
My guardians be the firmly-seated mountains: the Fathers, when I call on Gods, defend me!
6.52.9
विश्वदानीं सुमनसः सयाम पश्येम नु सूर्यमुच्चरन्तम |
viśvadānīṃ sumanasaḥ syāma paśyema nu sūryamuccarantam |
5 Through all our days may we be healthy. minded, and look upon the Sun when he arises.
6.52.10
तथा करद वसुपतिर्वसूनां देवानोहानो.अवसागमिष्ठः ||
tathā karad vasupatirvasūnāṃ devānohāno.avasāghamiṣṭhaḥ ||
Grant this the Treasure-Lord of treasures, coming, observant, oftenest of Gods, with succour!
6.52.11
इन्द्रो नेदिष्ठमवसागमिष्ठः सरस्वती सिन्धुभिः पिन्वमाना |
indro nediṣṭhamavasāghamiṣṭhaḥ sarasvatī sindhubhiḥ pinvamānā |
6 Most near, most oft comes Indra with protection, and she Sarasvatī, who swells with rivers -
6.52.12
पर्जन्यो न ओषधीभिर्मयोभुरग्निः सुशंसः सुहवः पितेव ||
parjanyo na oṣadhībhirmayobhuraghniḥ suśaṃsaḥ suhavaḥ piteva ||
Parjanya, bringing health with herbs, and Agni, well lauded swift to listen, like a father.
6.52.13
विश्वे देवास आ गत शर्णुता म इमं हवम |
viśve devāsa ā ghata śṛṇutā ma imaṃ havam |
7 Hear this mine invocation; come hither, O Universal Gods,
6.52.14
एदं बर्हिर्नि षीदत ||
edaṃ barhirni ṣīdata ||
Be seated on this holy grass.
6.52.15
यो वो देवा घर्तस्नुना हव्येन परतिभूषति |
yo vo devā ghṛtasnunā havyena pratibhūṣati |
8 To him who comes to meet you, Gods, with offerings bathed in holy oil-
6.52.16
तं विश्व उप गछथ ||
taṃ viśva upa ghachatha ||
Approach ye, one and all, to him.
6.52.17
उप नः सूनवो गिरः शर्ण्वन्त्वम्र्तस्य ये |
upa naḥ sūnavo ghiraḥ śṛṇvantvamṛtasya ye |
9 All Sons of Immortality shall listen to the songs we sing,
6.52.18
सुम्र्ळीका भवन्तु नः ||
sumṛḷīkā bhavantu naḥ ||
And be exceeding good to us.
6.52.19
विश्वे देवा रताव्र्ध रतुभिर्हवनश्रुतः |
viśve devā ṛtāvṛdha ṛtubhirhavanaśrutaḥ |
10 May all the Gods who strengthen Law, with Ṛtus, listening to our call,
6.52.20
जुषन्तां युज्यं पयः ||
juṣantāṃ yujyaṃ payaḥ ||
Be pleased with theit appropriate draught.
6.52.21
सतोत्रमिन्द्रो मरुद्गणस्त्वष्ट्र्मान मित्रो अर्यमा |
stotramindro marudghaṇastvaṣṭṛmān mitro aryamā |
11 May Indra, with the Marut host, with Tvaṣṭar, Mitra, Aryaman,
6.52.22
इमा हव्या जुषन्त नः ||
imā havyā juṣanta naḥ ||
Accept the laud and these our gifts.
6.52.23
इमं नो अग्ने अध्वरं होतर्वयुनशो यज |
imaṃ no aghne adhvaraṃ hotarvayunaśo yaja |
12 O Agni, Priest, as rules ordain, offer this sacrifice of ours,
6.52.24
चिकित्वान दैव्यं जनम ||
cikitvān daivyaṃ janam ||
Remembering the Heavenly Folk.
6.52.25
विश्वे देवाः शर्णुतेमं हवं मे ये अन्तरिक्षे य उप दयवि षठ |
viśve devāḥ śṛṇutemaṃ havaṃ me ye antarikṣe ya upa dyavi ṣṭha |
13 Listen, All-Gods, to this mine invocation, Ye who inhabit heaven, and air's midregions,
6.52.26
ये अग्निजिह्वा उत वा यजत्रा आसद्यास्मिन बर्हिषि मादयध्वम ||
ye aghnijihvā uta vā yajatrā āsadyāsmin barhiṣi mādayadhvam ||
All ye, O Holy Ones, whose tongue is Agni, seated upon this sacred grass, be joyful.
6.52.27
विश्वे देवा मम शर्ण्वन्तु यज्ञिया उभे रोदसी अपां नपाच्च मन्म |
viśve devā mama śṛṇvantu yajñiyā ubhe rodasī apāṃ napācca manma |
14 May the All-Gods who claim our worship hear my thought; may the two World-halves hear it, and the Waters’ Child.
6.52.28
मा वो वचांसि परिचक्ष्याणि वोचं सुम्नेष्विद वो अन्तमा मदेम ||
mā vo vacāṃsi paricakṣyāṇi vocaṃ sumneṣvid vo antamā madema ||
Let me not utter words that ye may disregard. Closely allied with you may we rejoice in bliss.
6.52.29
ये के च जमा महिनो अहिमाया दिवो जज्ञिरे अपां सधस्थे |
ye ke ca jmā mahino ahimāyā divo jajñire apāṃ sadhasthe |
15 And those who, Mighty, with the wiles of serpents, were born on earth, in heaven, where waters gather-
6.52.30
ते अस्मभ्यमिषये विश्वमायुः कषप उस्रा वरिवस्यन्तुदेवाः ||
te asmabhyamiṣaye viśvamāyuḥ kṣapa usrā varivasyantudevāḥ ||
May they vouchsafe us life of full duration. May the Gods kindly give us nights and mornings.
6.52.31
अग्नीपर्जन्याववतं धियं मे.अस्मिन हवे सुहवा सुष्टुतिंनः |
aghnīparjanyāvavataṃ dhiyaṃ me.asmin have suhavā suṣṭutiṃnaḥ |
16 At this my call, O Agni and Parjanya, help, swift to hear, my thought and our laudation.
6.52.32
इळामन्यो जनयद गर्भमन्यः परजावतीरिष आ धत्तमस्मे ||
iḷāmanyo janayad gharbhamanyaḥ prajāvatīriṣa ā dhattamasme ||
One generates holy food, the other offspring, so grant us food enough with store of children.
6.52.33
सतीर्णे बर्हिषि समिधाने अग्नौ सूक्तेन महा नमसा विवासे |
stīrṇe barhiṣi samidhāne aghnau sūktena mahā namasā vivāse |
17 When holy grass is strewn and fire enkindled, with hymn and lowly homage I invite you.
6.52.34
अस्मिन नो अद्य विदथे यजत्रा विश्वे देवा हविषि मादयध्वम ||
asmin no adya vidathe yajatrā viśve devā haviṣi mādayadhvam ||
All-Gods, to day in this our great assembly rejoice, ye Holy, in the gifts we offer.
