7.6.1
पर सम्राजो असुरस्य परशस्तिं पुंसः कर्ष्टीनामनुमाद्यस्य |
pra samrājo asurasya praśastiṃ puṃsaḥ kṛṣṭīnāmanumādyasya |
1. PRAISE of the Asura, high imperial Ruler, the Manly One in whom the folk shall triumph-
7.6.2
इन्द्रस्येव पर तवसस कर्तानि वन्दे दारुं वन्दमानोविवक्मि ||
indrasyeva pra tavasas kṛtāni vande dāruṃ vandamānovivakmi ||
I laud his deeds who is as strong as Indra, and lauding celebrate the Fort-destroyer.
7.6.3
कविं केतुं धासिं भानुमद्रेर्हिन्वन्ति शं राज्यं रोदस्योः |
kaviṃ ketuṃ dhāsiṃ bhānumadrerhinvanti śaṃ rājyaṃ rodasyoḥ |
2 Sage, Sing, Food, Light,—they bring him from the mountain, the blessed Sovran of the earth and heaven.
7.6.4
पुरन्दरस्य गीर्भिरा विवासे.अग्नेर्व्रतानि पूर्व्या महानि ||
purandarasya ghīrbhirā vivāse.aghnervratāni pūrvyā mahāni ||
I decorate with songs the mighty actions which Agni, Fort-destroyer, did aforetime.
7.6.5
नयक्रतून गरथिनो मर्ध्रवाचः पणीन्रश्रद्धानव्र्धानयज्ञान |
nyakratūn ghrathino mṛdhravācaḥ paṇīnraśraddhānavṛdhānayajñān |
3 The foolish, faithless, rudely-speaking niggards, without belief or sacrifice or worship,—
7.6.6
पर-पर तान दस्यून्रग्निर्विवाय पूर्वश्चकारापरानयज्यून ||
pra-pra tān dasyūnraghnirvivāya pūrvaścakārāparānayajyūn ||
Far far sway hath Agni chased those Dasytis, and, in the cast, hath turned the godless westward.
7.6.7
यो अपाचीने तमसि मदन्तीः पराचीश्चकार नर्तमः शचीभिः |
yo apācīne tamasi madantīḥ prācīścakāra nṛtamaḥ śacībhiḥ |
4 Him who brought eastward, manliest with his prowess, the Maids rejoicing in the western darkness,
7.6.8
तमीशानं वस्वो अग्निं गर्णीषे.अनानतं दमयन्तं पर्तन्यून ||
tamīśānaṃ vasvo aghniṃ ghṛṇīṣe.anānataṃ damayantaṃ pṛtanyūn ||
That Agni I extol, the Lord of riches, unyielding tamer of assailing foemen.
7.6.9
यो देह्यो अनमयद वधस्नैर्यो अर्यपत्नीरुषसश्चकार |
yo dehyo anamayad vadhasnairyo aryapatnīruṣasaścakāra |
5 Him who brake down the walls with deadly weapons, and gave the Mornings to anoble Husband,
7.6.10
स निरुध्या नहुषो यज्वो अग्निर्विशश्चक्रे बलिह्र्तः सहोभिः ||
sa nirudhyā nahuṣo yajvo aghnirviśaścakre balihṛtaḥ sahobhiḥ ||
Young Agni, who with conquering strength subduing the tribes of Nahus made them bring their tribute.
7.6.11
यस्य शर्मन्नुप विश्वे जनास एवैस्तस्थुः सुमतिं भिक्षमाणाः |
yasya śarmannupa viśve janāsa evaistasthuḥ sumatiṃ bhikṣamāṇāḥ |
6 In whose protection all men rest by nature, desiring to enjoy his gracious favour-
7.6.12
वैश्वानरो वरमा रोदस्योराग्निः ससाद पित्रोरुपस्थम ||
vaiśvānaro varamā rodasyorāghniḥ sasāda pitrorupastham ||
Agni Vaiśvānara in his Parents, bosom hath found the choicest seat in earth and heaven.
7.6.13
आ देवो ददे बुध्न्या वसूनि वैश्वानर उदिता सूर्यस्य |
ā devo dade budhnyā vasūni vaiśvānara uditā sūryasya |
7 Vaiśvānara the God, at the sun's setting, hath taken to himself deep-hidden treasures:
7.6.14
आ समुद्रादवरादा परस्मादाग्निर्ददे दिव आ पर्थिव्याः ||
ā samudrādavarādā parasmādāghnirdade diva ā pṛthivyāḥ ||
Agni hath taken them from earth and heaven, from the sea under and the sea above us.
