9.5.1
समिद्धो विश्वतस पतिः पवमानो वि राजति |
samiddho viśvatas patiḥ pavamāno vi rājati |
1. ENKINDLED, Pavamana, Lord, sends forth his light on, every side
9.5.2
परीणन वर्षा कनिक्रदत ||
prīṇan vṛṣā kanikradat ||
In friendly show, the bellowing Bull.
9.5.3
तनूनपात पवमानः शर्ङगे शिशानो अर्षति |
tanūnapāt pavamānaḥ śṛṅghe śiśāno arṣati |
2 He, Pavamana, Self-produced, speeds onward sharpening his horns:
9.5.4
अन्तरिक्षेण रारजत ||
antarikṣeṇa rārajat ||
He glitters through the firmament.
9.5.5
ईळेन्यः पवमानो रयिर्वि राजति दयुमान |
īḷenyaḥ pavamāno rayirvi rājati dyumān |
3 Brilliant like wealth, adorable, with splendour Pavamana shines,
9.5.6
मधोर्धाराभिरोजसा ||
madhordhārābhirojasā ||
Mightily with the streams of meath.
9.5.7
बर्हिः पराचीनमोजसा पवमान सत्र्णन हरिः |
barhiḥ prācīnamojasā pavamāna stṛṇan hariḥ |
4 The tawny Pavamana, who strews from of old the grass with might,
9.5.8
देवेषु देव ईयते ||
deveṣu deva īyate ||
Is worshipped, God amid the Gods.
9.5.9
उदातैर्जिहते बर्हद दवारो देवीर्हिरण्ययीः |
udātairjihate bṛhad dvāro devīrhiraṇyayīḥ |
5 The golden, the Celestial Doors are lifted with their frames on high,
9.5.10
पवमानेन सुष्टुताः ||
pavamānena suṣṭutāḥ ||
By Pavamana glorified.
9.5.11
सुशिल्पे बर्हती मही पवमानो वर्षण्यति |
suśilpe bṛhatī mahī pavamāno vṛṣaṇyati |
6 With passion Pavamana longs for the great lofty pair, well-formed
9.5.12
नक्तोषासा नदर्शते ||
naktoṣāsā nadarśate ||
Like beauteous maidens, Night and Dawn
9.5.13
उभा देवा नर्चक्षसा होतारा दैव्या हुवे |
ubhā devā nṛcakṣasā hotārā daivyā huve |
7 Both Gods who look on men I call, Celestial Heralds: Indra's Self
9.5.14
पवमान इन्द्रोव्र्षा ||
pavamāna indrovṛṣā ||
Is Pavamana, yea, the Bull.
9.5.15
भारती पवमानस्य सरस्वतीळा मही |
bhāratī pavamānasya sarasvatīḷā mahī |
8 This, Pavamana's sacrifice, shall the three beauteous Goddesses,
9.5.16
इमं नो यज्ञमा गमन तिस्रो देवीः सुपेशसः ||
imaṃ no yajñamā ghaman tisro devīḥ supeśasaḥ ||
Sarasvatī and Bhāratī and Iḷā, Mighty One, attend.
9.5.17
तवष्टारमग्रजां गोपां पुरोयावानमा हुवे |
tvaṣṭāramaghrajāṃ ghopāṃ puroyāvānamā huve |
9 1 summon Tvaṣṭar hither, our protector, champion, earliest-born,
9.5.18
इन्दुरिन्द्रो वर्षा हरिः पवमानः परजापतिः ||
indurindro vṛṣā hariḥ pavamānaḥ prajāpatiḥ ||
Indu is Indra, tawny Steer; Pavamana is Prajāpati.
9.5.19
वनस्पतिं पवमान मध्वा समङगधि धारया |
vanaspatiṃ pavamāna madhvā samaṅghdhi dhārayā |
10 O Pavamana, with the meath in streams anoint Vanaspati,
9.5.20
सहस्रवल्शं हरितं भराजमानं हिरण्ययम ||
sahasravalśaṃ haritaṃ bhrājamānaṃ hiraṇyayam ||
The ever-green. the golden-hued, refulgent, with a thousand boughs.
9.5.21
विश्वे देवाः सवाहाक्र्तिं पवमानस्या गत |
viśve devāḥ svāhākṛtiṃ pavamānasyā ghata |
11 Come to the consecrating rite of Pavamana, all ye Gods,—
9.5.22
वायुर्ब्र्हस्पतिः सूर्यो.अग्निरिन्द्रः सजोषसः ||
vāyurbṛhaspatiḥ sūryo.aghnirindraḥ sajoṣasaḥ ||
Vāyu, Sūrya, Bṛhaspati, Indra, and Agni, in accord.
